Atari MicroBox
The MicroBox was ALMOST released. It was to be the replacement for the Atari Falcon computer.
Enhancements were to include an all new case design and a true 32-bit bus with (3) 32-bit expansion slots. There were plans
to make it upgradeable to the Motorola 68040 processor. Atari had several "running" prototypes of the MicroBox, but the memory
controller didn't work properly. Just before it was to be released, Atari left the Home Computer business forever so they could
concentrate their efforts on the Jaguar64 video game machine.
Note: This system is not to be confused with the proposed Falcon040, which was another prototype.
Atari had some prototypes made in a Sun pizza-style case. It was supposed to have the Jaguar Blitter and had an optional ethernet interface.
