True understanding is very precious. This understanding must be carefully cultivated, and when you think you understand, you have really only made the first approach to true understanding. Herein, lies SOL. A definition that has been created as a reflection of SoL. But this reflection had to be based on some way of seeing SOL. It became clear that we must first answer the following questions.
["When all those are answered and agreed by majority, then you go to the next step:"]

This Philosophy is a product of the Mind, Spirit, and Body of SOL. To understand what it means to be in SOL, understand what is written here.
Philosophy of a Son of Liberty:

- What do you want to Achieve in this game?
Our allies to know they can count on us, and for us to know likewise. SoL members to feel the high level of comraderie present within SoL, for those members to enjoy their stay: for the fun of a good war, or at the very least, to feel as if they came away with a better understanding about things in general (better communication, better strategy, organization, structure, discipline, sense of fair play)
SOL as one big Family. A Family that has a many members who cares for each other as they care for themselves. If one member get hurts, the whole alliance suffers and if one member benefits, the whole alliance rejoices. I would like all members to feel they are equal to each other and the only different is the role they play in our big family.
SOL home to Anybody who is willing to be part of our Family, Abide by our code and put 100% efforts, no matter who and what they are.
SOL measure its decisions on the best interest of SOL and the opinion of many not the opinion of few. At the same time, to trust leaders to make a decision during the time of need and war and discuss it after any war is gone and threat is diminished
SOL family members fulfilling their duties on their own, without having others telling them to do so. If members come short in their duties, then I like to see other SOL members helping them understand the importance of their role and the effect on the whole family.
Leaders to set the example for members -- faster to review their own work before asking others to do theirs
-- everybody in SOL know exactly what they need to do before worrying about what others do.
Chain of command work from top all the way down. Exactly the same way from the bottom all the way to the top with no special treatments.
SOL one big community where everybody has a voice and everybody share their thoughts: all members to know that their opinion matters and without it we lose the building bricks of the foundation of our alliance. The more we lose, the weaker we are.
SOL treat other alliances the same way they want to be treated. SOL stands for its members against all odds and as long as it is only in fairness and justice: to be known for its fair playing and just treatment of others, small or big alliances, with no difference.
SOL Code of conduct is reflected in every aspect of SOL Family. SOL action talks much louder than their words.
SOL as a value and way of playing is reflected in every SOLer code of conduct.

- How do you define Best?
Best is like perfect, something can be at the top one minute, but then no longer at the top the next.
But Success: is to assign goals and to achieve them without compromising our code. Achievement creates teamwork and belonging. “Bests” could and should overflow to other parts of the alliance, such as forces, Teams and down to single members. But every single member in the alliance should also define “Best”. Every members, who is the smallest unit in our Family, should have his own version of Best.
Have fun, doing what you love.

- How do you Achieve Best?
If you can become the best in any moment, and continue to be the best as factors change (requires adaptation) then you are achieving it.
We can achieve Best by following the two steps cycle:
A) Assign Goals to follow every start of the reset [or period -- could be a few times every reset for certain goals, or maybe only once a year for broader more long term goals] and work hard to achieve them
B) Re-Evaluate your achievements and your goals at the end of every reset [or period]. Never be too satisfied with your achievement and strive for even better results on the next.

- Why this is different from Other alliances?
Other alliances strive to win, but forget to understand that the path to victory is just as important as the victory itself. Ie, not only are we achieving victory, but complete victory, victory along the path and at the destination.
Other alliances ask you “ what was your last NW and how experienced are you? What?? You've never played the game!? Go to another alliance!“ SOL asks, “Will you be an active member in our Family? And you understand what this means?? Welcome!!” Other alliances would boot you out if you do not pass a specific NW, SOL will ask you “what can we do to help you better your country and be a stronger part of our Family?”

SOLers CODE We strive to maintain a sense of "right" when operating in the game.
Fairness, understanding and a willingness to work with others outside of SOL are key.

Morale SOL members must work to create an enjoyable environment for themselves and each other.

Duty To come to the aid of your fellow SOL members in times of crisis. To report regularly. To encourage and uphold SOL's Code, and SOL's guidelines.

Honor It is imperative to display a sense of honor when operating in the game. Victory or Defeat, your honor cannot be taken away. Cling too tightly to it, and it becomes meaningless, but understand that honor is as valuable as the victory itself.

Integrity Strive to maintain the level of cooperation and understanding that has gotten us here. Do not stoop to the sometimes devious tactics of others when operating in the game. As we do not tolerate vulgarity from enemies, so should we not perpetrate the same.

Loyalty At all times remain loyal to those who serve you. Trust in your leadership, who put in many long hours so that SOL can be as great as it is. Morale is undermined by the insecurities of the subordinates. Know that SOL will stand as strong as the links that connect our structure.

Sacrifice Don't die for your country, make the other man die for his. Don't be attached to your country. If you believe so strongly in your convictions that you are willing to sacrifice your country, and every limb for your cause, you will often find yourself so empowered that you do not even need to lose a limb, but your enemies fall by the wayside. Give your all, and refuse to quit. Those two points are not easy to teach, nor to adopt, but they are so important that not enough can be said about them.

Virtue SoL members must strive to cultivate the virtues, to display them and live them, to create moral excellence. What follows is righteousness. Cultivate the power of being correct. (but remember that Humility is a virtue)

SoL has not only been the best in the sense mentioned above in the past, but the will is here to do it again.
So we have the will, and we have the way.. And we're doing it!!

It is strongly encouraged that all SoLers continue to comment on what should be added or modified, even removed from what has been written in the Philosophy of a Son of Liberty and the SoLer's Code -- not only so that it remains fresh, but this process will also help to pass on these principles, and to help every individual come to a better understanding of them!
