-
Ohio Univ. College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Teaching Assistant,
1996
Selected Work Experience
-
Postdoctoral Associate (Sept 98 – Sept 00), Professor Matthew
J. Morra, University of Idaho. Developed an electroanalytical technique
for determination of polysulfides in a complex mixture of other sulfur
species with various oxidation states. The electrochemical techniques applied
in this project include pulse techniques (such as differential pulse polarography),
time based techniques such as amperometry and coulometry, bulk electrolysis,
and interfacial electrochemical studies. Other techniques employed include:
Ion Chromatography (IC), Gas Chromatography (GC), High Performance Liquid
Chromatography (HPLC).
-
Teaching Assistant (Sept 93 – Mar 97) in Freshman, Sophomores,
Juniors and Seniors Chemistry courses at Ohio University: Electrochemistry,
Instrumental Analysis, Quantitative Analysis, Fundamentals of Chemistry.
Instruments used include: Potentiostats, GC, and UV-vis spectrophotometers.
Responsibilities: Preparing reagents, assisting students in experimental
techniques, tutoring, and grading of quizzes, tests, exams, and lab reports.
-
Research (Sept 93 – Aug. 98), Professor Howard
D. Dewald, Ohio University: Performed an electrochemical study for
gallium and indium. Also investigated electrochemical stability of copper
in lithium ion solutions as applicable to Li/Cu batteries.
-
Chemistry Instructor (Nov. 89 – Aug. 93), Chemistry instructor
(lecturer) to undergraduates at Jomo Kenyatta University. Courses taught
include general and advanced inorganic chemistry, general and advanced
organic chemistry.
