"Midway Entertainment today announced that it's partnered with English developer Traveller's Tales to bring gamers the original multi-genre title Haven: Call of the King. It will ship this fall to next-generation systems.

Midway indicates Haven is a third-person perspective game that blends platform elements with a slew of other genre aspects. Traveller's Tales' game features turret-based shooting, land and boat racing, space exploration, and arena combat. For gamers who love pretty graphics, this original title boasts an enormously powerful engine according to the company, enabling players to travel seamlessly from the surface of a planet into the atmosphere and space without a hitch.

Hoping to entice gamers with its unique little character, Traveller's Tales' story-driven game unravels the story of a young man who's haunted by dreams of an old legend. Again and again, the Golden Voice, a bell his people have used in times of need, appears in his dreams and leads him into an adventure of danger and peril. The evil Lord Vetch has enslaved his people, and thus Haven must prove his mettle as a warrior first and then launch a campaign to free his people and recover the Golden Voice.

"It always has been said that you can't combine excellent shooting, racing, flying, platforming and other gameplay mechanics and make a rock solid game," said Helene Sheeler, vice president of marketing, Midway. "Haven: Call Of The King has done this on every level. [It] features unrivaled gameplay with an almost endless combination of action-movie-styled gameplay elements and an engaging storyline, highly stylized characters and crisp cinematics."

Look for more information in the coming months. "

My Score: N/A
Advantages: Shooting, racing, flying, platforming all in the same game!
Disadvantages: Probably won't be out until 2003.
