We started working on the 0-4-0T Davenport (builders number 370). The plan is to get the basics working properly and perform a pressure test. I removed the blow down valve and the mud ring wash out plugs. When they came off dried mud came pouring out. The level of dried out mud in the mud ring is about four inches. I still need to remove the two front plugs to do a proper wash out. Ernie and Earl removed two broken studs on the steam dome and will remove and test the pressure relief valves with compressed air.

MAY 28, 06: That's Ernie peering into the steam dome. There are two broken studs that must be removed. I spent the morning cutting brush and vines off the fence. Earl took a chain saw to the front bumper, we crawled under and he showed me how to check the bearing surfaces.

Cab view. A little rough.

Looking into the steam dome.

I removed the blow down valve. It is frozen and would not budge, not even with heat. It is getting a good soaking with penetrating oil.
