Simon lay back on the couch in the doctor's lounge, one arm flung over his eyes. He should be taking a nap, but his brain was all fired up from the day he just had.

MedAcad had been wonderful, Simon had enjoyed every second of learning, studying, even socializing with a few friends over coffee and late nights. But the hospital, ah, now, this was where he belonged. Even the hellish hours of residency didn't faze him.

Of course, he could never just nap when he had a chance. His mind was like a whirligig, spiraling in random directions given just the slightest provocation. Today for example, two head wounds had come in almost simultaneously. The ensuing chaos energized him, focused his mind into a precise instrument, guiding his even more precise hands. And when the emergency was over, and the less frantic pace of the day to day TraumaWard was restored, he had felt complete, serene, and most of all, flush with pride. He'd been feeling this way all day. This was it.

Home.

Simon smiled. It's where the heart is. The best things in life are fulfilling your dreams, helping others, even making a pile of credits. He laughed. Fringe benefits were nice, too.

"Hey, Tam! You in here?" The door opened a crack, and Simon glanced over.

"What is it, Roslavets?"

"Letter from your sister, man."
