Welcome to the Raccon's page. I'm not going to go into much detail with this guy. He was my first animal skeleton (my previous two were birds). He got hit at the base of our driveway in mid August of 1997. I allowed him to decompse naturally (sleeping dogs lie..you know *s*). I collected him in the spring of '98 and cleaned him up. I managed to make a nice mess out of everything with this guy (this is were I learned that bleach is NOT a good thing, and that bug boxes are!). In the end I was missing several bones, and the ones I did have were very brittle due to overexposure with bleach. I primarily hot-glued him together as well (looks like heck *sigh*). I did use this guy as a 4H project in 1998, and he made it to the state fair and won a small scholarship. I guess he did his work, he's just an eye sore! I did screw up one thing major with this guy. If you notice the bone I put in the place of a sternum...if you know anything about bones you are probably laughin' pretty hard 'bout now. For the rest of you, I'll inform you. Some mammals have a bone in their penis called a "bacculm." Thats what I put in the place of the sternum *hanging head*. Hey, now it does look like a rib! I just couldnt' find on to match it! LMRO. Well, now that I've educated you in bones, I'll let you take a closer peek at this awful skeleton! Enjoy!
