Coyote Skeleton

Welcome to the Coyote Skeleton's page. This girl was found as roadkill in the spring of 2000. I believe she was a pregnat bitch, although she was young. I orginially decomposed her with natural means (I let the bugs have their fill). Once they were done, I soaked what was left in a 55-gallon-drum of water for a few weeks. This process grows bacteria in the water taht eats the remaing soft tissue. It worked great! I then soaked the skeleton in H202 for bleaching. It soaked for a week in 3 different bouts of H202.

Now I'm working on articulating her. I'm using some new ideas, which mainly include less visable wire, and more hidden supports. As you can see some soft tissue remained on the little bones in the feet, I left that intact, so the 'paws' are naturally held together. I glued (Goop) on what wasn't stable.

I'm still playing around with this new skeleton articulation idea. I'll keep you posted! For now, enjoy the pictures!

Metacarpals etc. Note the glue and wiring job, along with the natural 'adhesives.'
