ME

I am an only child who was born in Stuttgart, Germany while my father was in the army. My mother and father live in Bismarck, ND where my father owns a car stereo and accessories shop and my mother cares for people with disabilities.

My immediate family includes my husband, Eric, my 12-year-old son, Scott (Heidinger), and Eric's two kids, Erica (9) and Jacob (7). Oh, and I can't forget about our cat, Kit! My son also has a Shetland Sheepdog named Rascal, but since we live in an apartment that doesn't accept dogs, he is currently residing with my parents, at least until we get our house.

Kit and a friend

Kit is one of my rescue projects. Here is a picture of her with a friend. She is a beautiful Himalayan that was a stray when she was a kitten and got her head run over by a car. The veterinarian fixed her up and helped her recover. She is not what you would consider a "normal" cat, but that's what's so great about her! She is blind in one eye and tends to walk in circles when excited but the trauma didn't affect her intelligence. In fact, I believe she has above average intelligence. She fell in love with my husband soon after I met him and she definitely considers herself his (or him hers?).

Just a babyBoy has he grown! My son, Scott, is in seventh grade this year at Wahpeton Middle School and starting to go through the whole teen/pre-teen thing, with pimples and (gasp!) a GIRL-friend! (Don't tell him I told you!) He is not the little boy he once was! And, yes, it makes me feel old. He is planning on going out for wrestling this year. He is also a member of the Boy Scout troup here. He loves to ride bike and skateboard and play any type of video game he can get his paws on! He wants to run his grandpa's stereo shop for him when he grows up. He goes to visit his grandparents in Bismarck sometimes and last summer his grandpa was teaching him "tricks of the trade" at his business.

Erica and JakeMy stepkids get to come visit us every other weekend and every other holiday. Erica is 9 and in 4th grade. Jacob (Jake) is 7 (8 in October) and in 2nd grade. They both attend South Elementary in West Fargo. It's a little different to have them around since I was an only child and so was Scott. I've never had first hand experience with sibling rivalry! They are both great kids, though, and all three of the kids seem to get along, despite their age differences.

Me and my hubbyMy husband, Eric, is a wonderful guy. What do you expect me to say? - I married the guy! He welds at a local manufacturing plant and spends his spare time being with me and watching NASCAR. "It's nothing but a bunch of guys driving in circles." I guess he's changed his tune, now! In fact, HE got ME to keep watching after my guy died in a crash. His mom and dad live in Fargo. He also has a brother and a half-brother and half-sister. He was born in Breckenridge, which is right across the river from where we live now. Our one year anniversary is coming up in October, right after his birthday. Boy, where does the time go? We have a wonderful story about how we met but I think I've gone on long enough, now!! We are trying hard to perfect our own recipe for a happy marriage!
