The journal's compostion is based on the anime because there's so much more to this version that the animators had not given much attention to. Since the Outer Senshi are rarely ever seen in the anime, the author feels that there are a lot of complexities that could be explored and understood.
Graphics that are used in this journal are taken from Takeuchi Naoko's artbooks, to make the audience feel that they are really looking at portraits and special moments that only the creator Ms. Takeuchi herself could depict properly.
