The two teams are given an "immunity challenge" to locate alien life on their remote space location and then to present their evidence to the rest of the class. The team with the most convincing arguments "wins" the challenge... and fabulous prizes that include bonus points toward their science grade and free homework passes for everyone on their team.

This unit addresses all three Illinois Science Learning Standards as follows:
State Goal 11: Understand the processes of scientific inquiry and technological design to investigate questions, conduct experiments and solve problems.
State Goal 12: Understand the fundamental concepts, principles and inteerconnections of the life, physical and earth/space sciences.
State Goal 13: Understand the relationships among science, technology and society in historical and contemporary contexts.
INTERDISCIPLINARY STRANDS:
Interdisciplinary strands could be extended to Literature/Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Health and Art, depending on the time and schedule flexibility available.
