THE PLOT: Two thugs kidnap a woman and hold her for ransom.  One hitch is that she is nine months pregnant and about to give birth.

RYAN'S PART: He plays Parker, one of the kidnappers who starts to fall for the pregnant woman.

THE LOWDOWN: Directed by the Academy Award winning writer of The Usual Suspects, this violent crime thriller is one of Ryan's best films.      Phillippe and Del Toro play two losers who stumble on an idea to kidnap a surrogate mother, played by Juliette Lewis.  After the abuction, the duo are pursued by 2 bodyguards under the direction of James Caan.      The violent scenes are mixed with thoughtful, clever plot twist.  Though some critcs felt the gore and action was over-the-top, others placed the film on their Ten Best of the Year Lists.
