See how a musician/Bard goes thru her daily adventures!
Entry for May 21, 2007
Another beautiful overcast morning! I have indulged myself and ordered 3 sets of mandolin strings and a pack of those "sharkfin" picks I used to use when I was a lot younger. My bowlback has been needing a new set for ages, the "beach mando" could use a fresh set,and I got one set of a different brand just to see how I'd like them. And with the additional players points,I think I can get a t shirt.
My Dad stumbled upon a violin bow that wound up in my hand a couple of years ago in need of re hairing. Which brings a reminder that I'd still like to take up Irish/medieval Fiddling. Family history wise,if I did so,I'd be the 3rd generation in the family to play. My dad was the 2nd,such a shame he hated it-shows you what parents forcing a child on an instrument can do.
I have bid of all things,on a spinning plate (think magic!) and have come to realise that my devil sticking, attempts of juggling and the like are a grown up way of "going out to play"
which I need to do. For all my love of computers I find myself stuck behind one a bit too much, and the nature loving side of myself gets forgotten.
The gardener in myself has awakened and was busy yesterday repotting and weeding-all the ceramic pots and windowsill boxes I have purchased at garage sales is paying off. A neighbor a few streets away was kind enough to give me a clump of bulbs that are producing lipstick pink blossoms-I have no idea what the plants are,and neither does he,but they'll take their spot in the flowerbed by the front porch alongside the Foxglove and the Primroses. We visit this neighbor on the final stretch of road home from a morning of going to yard sales and coming home with wonderful finds, such as Dads "seamens chest" made by Ethan Allen-a nightstand with handles-very beautiful & a totally "guy looking" piece of furniture. Clearing room for it was another matter altogether. But it's in his room now,and I've bid on some material he'll like for a tablecloth.
I get to go to my part time day job today and hope for a peaceful evening with no volcanic activity from the night time lead cashier.
