In review of what was discussed lst week . . . the ideas behind the comps we provided you was to try to design an idea around the Boy Scouts themselves, who are the ultimate beneficiaries of the work of the Camp Mattatuck Volunteers. The first comp was established to show a Boy Scout's exposure to nature. The Camp Mattatuck Volunteers do a lot for outdoor excursions, as you have suggested, so an outdoor/camouflage style theme would be effective. As a result, I made the colors with an earthy tone but not so dark that it gets in the way of reading the text.
The second comp highlights the patriotism of the Boy Scouts, and as an extension, the Volunteers. That is why I decided on the red, white, and blue gradient, focusing mainly on the blue coloring, and the prominently placed eagle in the topbar.
You will also notice in each of the two comps that the areas established for content are very well defined. If you feel that this does not allow you enough room, the format can be altered but may require more time to complete. Thank you.
Updates as of May 1, 2003 - As you can see from our discussion, we have agreed on the second design comp with some slight modifications. The buttons are more visible for the center navigation bar on some computers than on others, but the text is more readable. Also, the eagle blends in far better on the left side of the page. Just about everything else is the same as you requested earlier. That page can be viewed below: Design Comp Final
