original airdate: Nov. 17, 2004

Lex is charged with murder; Lionel wants to help his son; Clark and Chloe try to solve the mystery; Lana meets Jason's mom.

What's up with Lex: Lex flirts with a woman at the opera. He doesn't get her name, but that doesn't stop the two from making out in an elevator and eventually ending up at Lex's hotel room. The next morning, the maid comes in and finds Lex covered in blood and the girl brutally murdered next to him. Lex is charged with the murder and released after posting bail. His lawyer, Corinne Harper, doesn't mess around and begins to formalize Lex's defense.

What's up with Lionel: Lex tells Clark that he believes his father is framing him. But when Clark gets a call from Lionel and goes to see him in prison, Lionel says he wants to help. He's been miraculously healed from his liver disease (he doesn't remember switching bodies with Clark) and he sees the darkness that used to be in him now in his son. He gives Clark some leads on the murder and insights into Lex's thinking.

What's up with Lana: Lana has a nightmare. She's back in Countess Isabelle's time. When she wakes she goes to the Talon where she meets Jason's mother. Who just happens to look exactly like a woman from her nightmare. Seems Jason doesn't want his mom in his life, but she wants to talk to him. Lana reluctantly decides to relay the message.

What's up with Clark: With Chloe and Lionel's help, Clark tracks down the dead woman's name, Eve Andrews. When Clark goes to investigate, he finds Lex in her home burning pictures of the two of them, turns out she was a stalker. Lex asks for his help and later tells him that he can't keep going to his father, he has to choose whom to trust, Lex or Lionel. Clark decides Lionel can help and goes to see him again.

What's up with Corinne: Turns out Lex has been very promiscuous. He's slept with many women and has the same MO each time. Sneak away and give them diamond earrings so he doesn't have to talk to them ever again. Corinne was one of these women. Lex insinuates she may be the one trying to frame him, to get back at him, she's upset and removes herself from the case. Later, Lex goes to see her at her office. He got a call saying she wanted to meet him. When he arrives he finds Corinne murdered.

What's up with Chloe: Chloe and Clark learn about Lex's diamond habit from Lionel and soon find that Lex was with two different women the night of the murder. Both had the same diamond earrings, so they were both ex-lovers. Since Eve was dead, the other woman must be the murderer. They track down the killer's name, again using Lionel's connections. Her name is Shannon Bell. Chloe calls the cops, Clark speeds off to save Lex.

How it all ends up: Shannon is waiting for Lex at Corinne's office. Lex has slept with her twice and didn't remember her after either time. Needless to say, she's not happy. She knocks him out, ties him up and douses him with alcohol. He ruined her life, and has done so to countless women... just as she's about to torch Lex, Clark knocks her out of the way and puts out the flames.

Lex is acquitted of all charges. Clark says he's happy, but doesn't know if he can trust Lex or not and he's totally not happy with the way Lex treats women. The two talk about it and Lex asks Clark not to give up on him yet.

Jason and Lana talk about his mother. She tells him about her dream and how it's freaked her out. He tells her not to worry, his mother is just a manipulative women. Later, he confronts his mom and tells her to go away. She'll be waiting to hear from him.
