What's up with Clark:
Martha sends Clark to her chief of staff's home. However, when he arrives all the glass and mirrors in Naomi's house are shattered - and Naomi is dead. Her foster daughter, Maddie, is in her room, shaking and alone. Clark and his mother take Maddie into their home until they find another parent for her. Clark and Maddie connect after Clark realizes that Maddie has powers too - she can break glass. At first he's suspicious she may have had something to do with Maddie's death. Then Maddie finally talks - the first time since since her real mother died in a car accident when she was three - and asserts that she liked Naomi and can't do anything beyond walls. Clark believes her.
What's up with Lois:
Lois stops by the Kents' to see how things are going with Maddie. She offers to join Clark and Maddie on their horseback riding trip, but Maddie doesn't like Lois. The light bulbs in the barn shatter. Lois is certain that the little girl killed her foster mother, but Clark stands by Maddie. He leaves Lois with Maddie while he runs to Chloe to do some research. While Clark is out, Maddie gets upset because she can't find Shelby, the Kents' dog. She is about to shatter glass when Lois calms her down. But then a man from child services comes to take Maddie away. Lois warns him that she can shatter glass and should stay away from cars. Frank doesn't care. He takes her anyway, only for all of his car's windows to be shattered. However, it may not be Maddie's fault... A strange man is there to take Maddie away. Is the the cause of this incident? Glass is lodged in Lois' shoulder.
What's up with Chloe:
Chloe returns to her dorm room to find Lana and Lex having an intense moment. Worried about a vulnerable Lana, Chloe confronts Lex at his mansion. She warns him that is he hurts Lana, there will be a consequence. Lex fires back, reminding Chloe that she doesn't know anything about relationships since she's never had one. Later on, Lana confronts Chloe about meddling. Lana claims she won't be prey to anyone.
How it ends:
The man who took Maddie away is her father. He has special powers too that he acquired from the first meteor shower. Maddie thinks he killed her real mother and Naomi; her father says he was never allowed to see her and wants her back. Clark finds them and rescues Maddie. Unfortunately, when the father is in custody of the police, he shatters the glasses of the cop in charge of him and kills him. He escapes.
Clark finds Maddie's grandmother, but she never knew she had a granddaughter. Clark plans to unite them. But before he can, Maddie's father shows up back at the Kents' and is about to kill Martha with glass when Clark stops him. Then Maddie is about kill her father with glass when Clark convinces her not to - she doesn't have to be like her father. Her dad promises not to bother her ever again.
Martha now needs a new chief of staff. Who better to take on the task than Lois, who managed her late husband's campaign? Lois accepts Martha's offer. Clark is apprehensive.
Lana visits Lex to make sure what they have is not anything more than a friendship... but it is. Lex kisses her, Lana hesitates, and then passionately kisses him back. She then flees, leaving Lex to wonder what just happened and what will happen next between them.
