What's up with Lana: Lana wants to rekindle her romance with Clark. She tells Clark that Chloe is gone for the weekend, so she will have the dorm room all to herself... but Clark once again declines the invitation. As she leaves The Talon, she reminds him that she will wait for as long as it takes. On the way back to Metropolis, she stops by Lex's. He tells her that he knows where Dr. Milton Fine, former professor at Central Kansas A&M, is - he's in Honduras, and Dr. Fine is the key to finding the spaceship. Lana wants to go with Lex, but he doesn't want her to be in danger. Later on Lana probably wishes she wasn't in town - she goes back to the Kents' only to see Clark and a sexy seductress, Simone, about to have sex. Lana is devastated.

What's up with Clark: Clark has fallen under the spell of Simone, a petty shoplifter who was hired by Lex to find out more about Clark. Simone has a necklace that hypnotizes whomever she pleases. She gets Clark to call Lana and tell her to come over just as they are about to make love. However, Lana's reaction interrupts them. However, for the next few days Clark remains under the spell and listens to whatever Simone says. This includes telling him that they will leave California and never return to Smallville. Simone hypnotizes Martha Kent into thinking such an arrangement is okay.

What's up with Lois and Chloe: When Lois sees Clark making out with Simone, she tells Chloe. They squabble a bit about how likely it is for Clark to do such a thing to Lana, but both agree they themselves must take some action. Chloe meets with Simone and steals some ID from her purse. With that information, she learns that Simone's father was a world-renowned hypnotist who died in a freakish, mysterious accident recently. Simone now has the necklace that her father used to hypnotize his patients. Chloe suspects Simone killed her father. Lois goes to the Kents' to try to stop Clark from leaving, but a hypnotized Clark and Martha subdue her.

What's up with Lex: Lex meets Milton Fine in Honduras. Lex interrogates him - why did he come to Kansas in the first place? Dr. Fine says he was looking for extraterrestrial beings because he is a government operative. Lex wants to know where is the ship. Fine doesn't reveal it to him, but later the ship is nestled in the trees of Central America. Also, Brainiac has some clones. He summons them to help him find more "samples."

How it ends: Simone wants Clark to kill Lex before they run off to California. Lex returns from Honduras and sees Clark waiting for him in his office. Clark attacks him, but Lex knows he must be under a spell. After all, why would he behave this way? Simone then appears and tells Lex to kill Chloe, who has come to weaken Clark with green kryptonite, and then shoot himself. Lex starts to listen, but Chloe tries to take the gun away from Lex and succeeds in shooting the hypnotizing necklace. The spell is broken.

Lana knows that Clark was under a spell when he was about to make love to Simone, but Clark decides to call it quits anyway. He doesn't want to hurt Lana anymore. He looks her in the eye and tells her, "I don't love you." It's not true, but he wanted it to be a clean break. Lana then says it's over - forever.
