Pete gets himself in trouble and wants Clark to use his powers to get him out of it. Lana, Chloe and Lex dig deeper into Adam's mysterious past.

What's up with Clark: Clark is at the hospital visiting his dad, who's suffered a heart attack. Clark blames himself, saying that Jonathan's heart is weak because he was granted special powers to bring Clark back from Metropolis when he was under the influence of Red Kryptonite. His dad tells him he'll be fine and that he should go home and get some rest. On the drive home he's almost hit by two speeding cars. Clark follows them using his super speed and he arrives at a finish line. The two cars had been illegally street racing. When the driver gets out, the winner is pronounced the "King of Speed, Pete The Boss Ross!"

What's up with Pete: The next day, Pete is hanging out with Jason Dante, the guy who's letting Pete race in his supped up car and who's taught Pete how to drive. Clark shows up at Dante's shop and talks to Pete. He tells him it's wrong that he's racing illegally, but Pete tells Clark to keep it a secret, because that's what friends do for each other. Later Clark tells Pete he'll do whatever he has to in order to keep Pete from breaking the law and getting hurt. It turns out the cars run on Kryptonite boosters, that are highly unstable. Pete tells him he'll stop racing, but later that night, he shows up to defend his title. As Pete zones in, Dante tells him to throw the race. Pete looks like he's going to comply, but at the last second he hits his booster and wins the race. Afterwords, Dante tells Pete he's out 20 thousand dollars because of Pete and tells him if he doesn't get him the money, he'll kill him.

What's up with Lana: Lana confronts Adam with an article about a guy named Chad Nash, who's picture looks exactly like Adam and who's bio reads as a list of all of Adam's talents. But most importantly, it says that Chad Nash died five months ago of a rare liver disease. Adam tells her she can't tell anyone what she's found, that his life depends on it.

What's up with Lex: Lex and Chloe discuss Adam. Chloe tells Lex the liquid that was in the vile she found under Adam's bed contained blood platelets that are unlike anything anyone's ever seen and that a Dr. Tang was visiting Adam twice a week in the hospital. Lex visits Dr. Tang in Metropolis, she's a world renowned molecular biologist. She says she doesn't see patients, but as he's leaving, Lex tells her he knows about the platelets.

How it ends: Pete tells Clark about the race and that he needs his help. Clark breaks into Dante's shop and sees that he's running a chop shop and has tons of illegal license plates and registrations. Clark goes to the police, but when they raid the shop they find nothing. A beaten Pete shows up later and tells Clark Dante has an informant at the sheriffs office and he knew about the raid. He says that if Clark doesn't steal $20 thousand dollars for him to give to Dante that Dante will kill Pete and his parents. Clark goes to Lex for the money, but Lex refuses saying if he pays them once, they'll keep coming back for more. Clark steals Lex's Porsche and tells Pete his plan. Pete will challenge Dante, who's never lost, to one final race. If Dante wins, he gets the Porsche, if Pete wins, the debt is settled. Clark tells Pete he'll use his heat vision to fry Dante's engine, guaranteeing Pete's victory. As the two get set to race, Clark over hears Dante talking to his lackey. They've rigged Pete's car so that when it tops 100 mph it will blow up. Before Clark can stop them, or tell Pete, he's hit over the head with a container of Kryptonite and is knocked out. They throw him in the back of Pete's car, right by the kryptonite booster. The race begins. Pete hits the booster and the Kryptonite is released. Once it's out and just before he hits 100mph Clark wakes up and pulls the fuel line, reducing the speed of the car and spraying gas on the road. Dante's car hits the fuel and spins out, flipping when it swerves off the road. When Pete and Clark get to the car, it's too late. Dante is dead.

Dr. Tang comes to Lex and tells him all her funding has been cut. Lex says he'll double her funding if she tells him where the platelets came from and what she's using them for. That night Lana tells Adam she wants to know the truth. Adam becomes extreamly angry and demands she leave it alone and says if she tells anyone what she's found out, she'll regret ever meeting him.

Clark returns the Porsche and Jonathan returns home. Pete comes to apologize and tells Clark he'll never disrespect his powers again. He tries to challenge Clark to a game of basketball, but Clark's still upset with him and walks back to the house.
