_____Vengeance
"Vengeance"
original airdate: Feb. 02, 2006

What's up with Clark: Clark is home early from school. Why? He explains to his mother that he's taken the rest of the semester off. Martha is not happy, but Clark insists that he needs to take care of things on the farm. It is clear that Jonathan's death has not quite sunk in for Clark yet.

What's up with Martha: Martha is giving some of her late husband's clothes to charity, but she offers them to him first. She also asks Clark to have Jonathan's watch. However, Clark doesn't take it. On the way to Metropolis to talk to the governor about the now vacant senate seat, Martha is mugged by two thugs. Snake takes the watch and orders his accomplice to slit her throat. Just as he is about to heed Snake, a mysterious female avenger sweeps down and rescues Martha. She returns home to an already fragile Clark and tells him about the ordeal.

What's up with Lana: Lana stops by Clark to tell him that he doesn't have to spill out his guts to her, but she doesn't want to see him bottle up his emotions either. She is very worried about him.

What's up with Chloe: Clark heads over to the Daily Planet offices to get more details about the Martha's assailants. In the process, Clark bumps into Chloe's new co-worker, Andrea. She looks eerily similar to drawings of the masked avenger. Meanwhile, Clark is determined to get back at the men who took his father's watch.

What's up with Lex: Lex stops by the Talon to visit Lana, who's closing as a favor to Martha. Lex apologizes for his behavior from when they last talked; he also reminds her that if she ever needs someone to lean on, Lex is there for her. Lex also has his hands full with his father, Lionel, who is trying to orchestrate a hostile takeover of LuthorCorp.

What's up with Lionel: Lionel is not too happy with the fact that Lex has endangered LuthorCorp's financial health with his costly senate campaign. Lionel prepares to move back into LuthorCorp when Lex points out that the ever-forgiving Martha Kent would be devastated to learn that Lionel and Jonathan secretly met right before Jonathan's heart attack. Lionel retreats. He later approaches Martha and tells her he can't take the money Jonathan gave him to repay his senate contribution. He does not want money and politics to get in the way of his and Martha's friendship. He also adds that if she needs anything, he is there for her.

What happens: Chloe and Clark try to get the Angel of Vengeance's attention by staging an attack. Clark wants to talk with her since she is the only one who can identify Martha's assailants. The masked avenger arrives and confronts Clark. Clark eventually rips off her mask and sees that it's Andrea. She has these powers because she received a heart from someone who died in the meteor shower. She has kryptonite, which weakens Clark. She also has lost a loved one - her mother, an anti-gang advocate - in the same incident in which she lost her heart.

She and Clark find the 13th Street Gang, the gang Snake is affiliated with. Clark chokes him, but then he realizes revenge will not change the past. Andrea feels differently. She kills him, and then goes after Lionel. Before Snake died, he claimed his was a hit man for someone who worked for Lionel. She drops Lionel, then flees. Clark saves him. Lionel is grateful. He says, "Thank you, son."
