Stop the Smap!
Dec. 9 (Wed),1998

Good evening everyone. This is December 9th Stop the SMAP. Ah, I, Goro Inagaki, will be the host for next few days. Well, it is not really big deal but yesterday was my birthday. Tonight is the night for SMAP Personal Close Up.

Yeah, as I said, yesterday, December 8 was my birthday. I am 25 years old now really. Well, think about it, I am now into the second half of my 20's. Ummm, I got to think about it. Um¡K But, I hope I will not change myself, just keeping my pace and taking it easy¡K yeah, really.

Oh, I will be your host from today. Tsuyoshi was hosting for two weeks till yesterday. Nakai kun was before him. Well, it is kind difficult get all the members together. I hope you don't mind me doing the show.

O.K. today is the day for Personal Close Up. Let's read the postcard. This is from Aki living in Machida.

"Happy Birthday Goro kun. You will be 25 years old on December 25. (Goro said 'Thank you'. I red your interview on Yomiuri Newspaper. You said you will quit singing and dancing, and want to be known as an actor. Is that really what you said? But, I want you to be a member of SMAP forever. SMAP can get together once a year just like Shonentai has been doing for a long time. Please don't change anything for now because I like to see SMAP as a group."

Well, ah, Yomiuri Newspaper's interview was quite a while ago. I think it was for "Sommelier" the drama publicity. By the way, the drama is still continuing as we speak. Usually, the regular newspapers don't interview us. Every once in while, we get this kind of interview. Unlike the interview by some entertainment magazines, the interview by the regular newspaper is kind formal, sort of stuffy. (laughing) Well, a guy from the newspaper was a very serious newsman type wearing suits.

Ah, I haven't red the interview, so I don't know how it was wrote; but, I don't remember that I said something like that.(laughing) Well, he might have taken what I said differently from what I meaned.

Um¡KIt is possible to do dancing and singing at age 30. You know, Shonentai is still doing it. Well¡K But I am not sure if we will keep dancing and singing hard at age 30. Of course, I wish to keep SMAP going as it is. Nothing drastic, you know what I mean.

I didn't say that I wanted be an independent actor. I didn't mean that. So, don't worry.(laughing)

Thanks for the postcard. Then, I will play a song from SMAP003, that's quite a while ago. Here you go, SMAP's "Happy Birthday".

O.K. It was interesting to make a comment on the newspaper interview today. You know it is really unpredictable how those interviews and what I said on TV turn out. It often happens some media people misunderstand some words and just write articles without understanding what we really meaned to say. I think it is very difficult to convey whatever a person said to others through mass media. What the person really wanted to say could get lost through the process of conveying the message. How do you think? Oh well, I will see you later.
