Stop the Smap!
Dec. 28 (Mon), ,1998

Hi, Good evening everyone. This is the time for STOP THE SMAP. I have been hosting the show alone for while. Please bear with me. Tonight is the SMAP night by Goro Inagaki.

Well, let's read the letter from Eri who lives in Shibuya, Tokyo; "Hello, Goro-kun. I red on Cosmopolitan that you display your collection of plastic figures by your front door. Aren't your friends surprised to see these figures when they visit your place? My room is full of Goro stuff. People who came to my place for the first time are really surprised to see my Goro collection. Of course, I can put Goro stuff all over the place if I live with my family. But, I now live alone so I am decorating my place with my Goro collection. Do you have any other things in your place which you want to show off? And, how do you decorate your place?"

Well, Cosmopolitan, I write essays every month for this magazine published from Shueisha. Yeah, I did write something like that, but the figures are no longer there. Where are they now? Oh, these figures are now in the bathroom. Gandam plastic figures are so nostalgic. We are the generation who grown up with Gandam. I was in the elementary school. Gandam, the animation was first broadcasted when I was in the kindergarten. It made come back by re-running the animation.

Gandam¡Kah, it has such a sweet memories. Whenever I hear Gandam, I remember my childhood¡K oh, it really comes back to me in as a sweet memory. But , I am now old and I don't know if it is appropriate to display them at the doorway. How do you think? I just mentioned it in my essay as a kind of playful thing.

My place is very simple with white interiors. I don't like dark colors because it will make the room look heavy. Um. The carpet is beige. Flooring is too cold so I prefer to put carpet. My couch is white and the coffee table is wood. Basically, I like wooden interiors. These are nice. Um¡K

Just a while ago, I bought a painting and put it in my room. I love paintings but I can't put too many of them in my place. Putting too many paintings might destroy the balance of the interiors. But, I do hung the painting of my grandmother in the living room over the couch. No, no, it is not the painting of old lady's figure. It is a painting done by my grandmother. Ah, my grandmother is an artist. Well, she teaches oil painting and enters to the art competitions. Her paintings have been displayed at the NIKATEN, the art exhibition in Ueno, Tokyo. Yeah, she is quite an artist. Sometimes, I get her paintings. Ah, it is interesting to pick the frame for the painting and put up in my room.

We don't talk about our rooms among SMAP members. I don't think we talked about in SMAPXSMAP. I like to interior decorations. I think other members also like to do that. I went to Shingo's place a while ago. His room is quite cool. Kimura-kun's place, ah, haven't been there while, is so Kimura-kun. Um, how should I describe his taste? (laughing) It's was really in his taste. I don't know about Tsuyoshi's place. I never been there. Nakai-kun's place, haven't been there for last few years, has Kotatsu table (a heating equipment in Japan. The heater is attached to the low-legged table. A blanket covers the Kotatsu to keep it warm.) He mentioned it in his TV shows.

My place is really simple. I only put minimum stuff. Um¡K I like to put up the paintings. I keep my place neat. I don't like cluttered room. Tsuyoshi¡Kah, Kusanagi kun said it before that staying in the cluttered room is stressful. I agree. Cluttered rooms irritate me so even if I am busy, I will clean my room. I am that kind a guy.

Oh, but probably I should graduate from plastic figures of Gandam now. (laughing) Let's play music, "HA" from the new album "La Festa".

Ah, I talked about my room tonight. Well, my room is more like my own castle and I can expand my imagination to create my own space. You know, when you start living alone, it is fan to think about how to decorate the place. Well. When I started living alone, it was a studio apartment. There was not enough room to decorate after putting a bed. Um¡K Ah, as I get old, my taste of decorating the place might change. I want to create my place which matches to my life style at the time. Talk to you soon. Bye Bye.
