Panama City. There are three cities in one: Old Panama, Colonial Panama, and Modern Panama. In Old Panama, lie the ruins of the city which was sacked and destroyed by the famous pirate Morgan in 1671. Colonial Panama, built in a new site after destruction, has narrow streets, wrought iron balconies, San Jose Church with its Golden Altar, Flat Arch, National Theatre, the Cathedral, and Las Bovedas promenade. Modern Panama is fascinating with its tall buildings, fabulous department stores, hotels, restaurants, casinos and lively night life.
Climate. Panama has a tropical climate and average temperature of 27 degrees centigrades ( or 80 degrees F) all the year round. The country has two seasons: rainy and dry. The former lasts from april to december
Time. Under the Eastern Standard Time, Panama is one hour ahead of Central America.
Currency. The Balboa (B/), the official panamanian monetary unit, is at use interchangeably with the U.S. Dollar.
Museums. In Panama City you can find the following museums: Colonial Religiosus Art, Natural Science, Reina Torres de Araúz Anthropological Museum, Panama History, Afro-Antillean, Contemporary Art, of the Panama Canal and Panama’s National Bank House Museum.
