Many people have told me this reminds them of Edward Hopper, undoubtedly due to the similarity of the scene to Hopper's famous "Nighthawks" painting, and possibly some similarity in the brushwork. I like how this one is turning out.

Added some mountains, and design on the floors and redid the lower staircase and balustrades (twice). (Dec 9, 2004)
Decided the orange/red wasn't working, going with blueish purple instead... (Dec 11, 2004)
Started in on the mountains...
Repainted the balusters.
Update, 12/13/2004 -- blues keep getting darker.. too dark. Blending on the small balusters isn't working too good (can't really see the problem too much in this photo though.)
Reworked the mountains, drew in a waterfall and bridge.
Tackled the hard part... Jan 2, 2005
Jan 3, 2004, Worked on the mountains a bit more, painted the sneakers, darkened the sky and added some cirrus clouds, painted the sunlight on the landing, started in on the river.
Refined the river, started in on the waterfalls. Not sure I like the waterfalls. Added some trees.
Redid the arches to try to fix perspective problems, started in on the middle area on the left. Jan 23, 2005.
Painted over most of the white space that's left. River and grass need lots of work though.
