some of us choke on the word.
thinking of younger days,
days long gone,
when we thought everything was pure.
when we were untainted
and truly were innocent.
safe in what we did not know.
true children of God.
but as we grow older,
we
aquire things-
experiences-
that take away those
pure thoughts and ideas
and replace them with
cruel images of the real world.
innocence fades away.
but as innocence fades,
wisdom comes
and innocence no longer matters.
rude awakenings come fast and hard
but we are better because of them.
