| Personal Teaching Statement |
| |
I
believe that, to succeed in life, each child needs to be empowered to make sensible
choices. I try to always provide a positive learning environment for all children through
making the most of childrens personalities. I endeavour to make the classroom a happy
place by providing a sense of humour and enthusiasm for activities. Some children come
from backgrounds where school is the only real education they have. These children are the
ones I feel I can help the most. |
|
Sharon
is a sincere and thoughtful teacher who has demonstrated commitment to the principles of
equity and inclusion in her practice.
Sharon has made an excellent
effort to ascertain the needs of the class and teach directly to them.
Sharon puts much energy
into creating a lively, highly interactive programme for children.
Before the class, Sharon
is composed and self-assured, speaking clearly and decisively, yet not afraid to respond
with a sense of humour.
Sharon encourages
children to take increasing responsibility for their own learning and behaviour.

Daily and weekly supply teaching at a medium-sized coeducational school that attracts
children from mainly low socio-economic backgrounds. The school has a mix of cultures,
mostly white-Europeans with Maori and Pacific Island children as well as other cultures
represented. There are some children who also present challenging behaviour that requires
consistent management skills. Teaching
involved all levels of classes for part and full days using a range of pre-planned and
self-planned teaching. Road Patrol, playground supervision during breaks and liasing with
other staff members are also common in the job. I attended the three day yr5 camp in
February 2001 as an adult helper involving supervision of planned tasks and free time
while walking, rock climbing, swimming and leisure.

Daily and weekly supply teaching at a small coeducational school that attracts children
from mainly low socio-economic backgrounds. The school has a strong mix of cultures, with
high levels of Pacific Island and Maori children as well as white-European children. Many
of the children come from non-English-speaking backgrounds. Due to language or social
disadvantages a few children present behaviour issues that require interventions to be put
in place. Teaching involved all levels of
classes for part and full days using a range of pre-planned and self-planned teaching.
Road Patrol, playground supervision during breaks and liasing with other staff members are
also common in the job. During my appointment in December 2001, I attended staff meetings
and contributed to the end of year concert. |
