02/08/02 Cumbie ski trip. Good times :) Destination Queenstown. A solid 4 hours by bus with a pitstop at Alexandra. We arrived at Queenstown Lodge late at night, unloaded our gear and got to our rooms. Chris, Pam, Ollie and I shared a room with two of the RAs, Sonoko and Stu.
03/08/02 We were rudely awakened at 3am by Chris' phone ringing (we all thought it was the alarm going off for us to get up) and again at 4am by some numbnuts knocking on our door. RUDE! We dragged ourselves out of bed at 6am in order to get up the mountain before 9am. Needless to say people were rather sleepy on the bus. Pictured is Devon and some chick sleeping in her lap. Hehehe...

This was the view from the window as we went up the mountain. The trip was very serene with a red sunrise over Queenstown as we drove towards the mountains.
The snow was excellent and there was an abundance of friends to ski with. It wasn't too hot or too cold (although the chairlift was extremely windy).

04/08/02 Ollie and Pam prepared for another hardout day of boarding. It was a bit harder getting out of bed this morning as we were all so exhausted from the day before. We made it to the bottom of the mountain fine but the stupid bus driver couldn't work out how to put chains on the bus so we missed an hour of skiing (in whiteout conditions) sitting on the bus getting pissed off. I was pretty exhausted and didn't get much quality skiing done coz I was so unfit. But I still had a wicked day and skied with lots of different people which was good fun :)

We had another pitstop in Alexandra on the way home and it took about an hour because we all got KFC (along with about 3 other Halls' buses) and the queue was almost out the door coz only one person was working the counter. They ran out of buns. Got back to Cumbie at 10pm. The bus driver got really pissed off coz we were hassling his 60-point turns. Then he accidentally hit a pole with the bus and smashed out the pane of glass on the door. Oopsy :P
