MARIO KART UPDATED NEWS! Sami Çetin's update, 6th June 2002 |
UPDATES THIS WEEK
A lot of new World Records were set this week by many people! Jamie White has taken the lead again with World Records as he tears his times up even more! He stated that he has pushed VL1 to its limits now after breaking 51 seconds on the 5-lap with 0'50"92 and a lap of 0'09"64!!! DP3 needed improving and he knew that he could reach the GOD time here easily. He made it to 1'19"21 and could easily reach 1'18"s soon with the great laps he was making. The new lap WR is now down to 0'15"58 also! He has gone sick on KB2!! KB2 has actually ben karted a lot this week, even on PAL. Jamie took the lap even further to 0'11"25 and now holds the 5-lap time at 0'59"04!! He will break 59 seconds soon it seems. He improved the Ghost Valley 2 lap to what might now be a perfect time at 0'11"69. It will be interesting to see if 1'00" can be beaten for the 5-lap here. DP1 lap is now also looking perfect after Jamie perfects his cornering skills here to make the best posible time. 0'14"61 is gonna stand strong for a long time, unless of course he improves this one again, but like the GV2 lap, it looks solid! He was suprised to improve the CI2 lap record but he managed to do it and made a 0'13"27 lap! He also slightly improved DP2 5-lap to 1'26"23!
On PAL version, there was a fight over some World Records once again! Sami Çetin fought well to take back some World Records. To start off with he hit VL2, many failed attempts passed so VL2 trick looked nice to improve and a new 5-lap WR arrived at 0'51"18!! The normal VL2 5-lap course time was back again and he secured the WR again at 0'52"21. VL1 5-lap was not a favourite but was useful with the SR points and was improved to 0'55"72!! GV3 1-lap was a crazy time, with massive jumps over the gaps he cut it to a (perfect?) lap of 0'14"90!! Michael Jongerius also had a good week, to start off with by taking DP1 5-lap down to 1'16"65, he had a WR for KB2 5-lap but that was later taken back. In the end he took the lead with KB2 1-lap down to 0'12"14!! Raphael Braun managed to fight Jongerius for his World Record just in time and took it to 1'03"60 and even made some other PRs to go in! The French competition have made their attack again, as Nicolas Clementy returns to take the #1 in France position back again! He tried very hard and made a WR for KB1 5-lap at 0'58"86 with a 1-lap WR tie at 0'11"17*!! He cut through to Legend A, but after Jérôme Gava improved two PRs, he wasn't able to reach #1 in France this week. Archibald Lefevre also returned to take some WRs he knew he could get, a WR tie on CI2 5-lap followed by a WR on the 1-lap; the times were 1'12"27* and 0'14"23.
On NTSC, Brian Thomas made a return after a short break and presented a whole new list of PRs, many very large chops off the SR score! He has already reached his first GOD time after managing to hit the platform jump, and many other Legend times have arrived! He looks well on the way to becoming an SMK Legend karter in the near future. Thomas Harrington also returned after a few weeks with some more crazy records. 8 GOD times with 7 Legend times and 1 King B time put Thomas on Legend A overall standard breaking the tie with Michael Liem to make him #5 in the World on NTSC. He is also catching Louis-Philippe Sabbagh pretty quick! We may have another GOD standard Karter pretty soon!
The rest of the French competition continue to Kart really well with Bertrand Voireuchon sending in 4 new PRs, two for MC1 and the other two on GV3. His GV3 times are getting stronger now as he has improved them over a few times and cut a few SR points off there. Cedric Leutwyler is the other karter to have sent some PRs in, 8 PRs in all. He has climbed to Elite C after some nice cuts off, particularly on DP1!

MARIO KART UPDATED NEWS! Sami Çetin's update, 13th June 2002 |
FOUR NEW MEMBERS
We have some new members this week to both the PAL & NTSC versions:
First we have the brother of NTSC World Champion, Jamie White to join the SMK site. His name is Darcy White and is already karting some really fast times! He has reached the King F overall standard and is #26 on the NTSC Players' List!
Secondly we have a new player, also from U.S.A, whose name is Wes Kight. He has spent a lot of time on MC1 to get a nice 1'00" time and a lap nearly breaking 12 seconds, but also has some great times on other courses aswell. He enters the NTSC list at #32 and is Elite B by overall standard.
A new player from France, Julien Patry joined this week. He found the site through Nicolas's French SMK site, which means he has been recruited, thanks to Nicolas there! Julien has set himself up well with a good set of times; Elite G overall standard and #49 on the PAL Players' List.
Lastly, we had a set of times from a new German karter, Dennis Kautz. Dennis is a friend of German Champion, Florian Stern and has also been recruited to the site. He is using Koopa Troopa mainly to drive records so far, but is starting to use Bowser on a few courses. His overall standard is now Expert B overall and he stands at #67 on the PAL Players' List.
UPDATES THIS WEEK
Not as much in the way of WRs this week, but the few that were made by some of the top karters were incredibly fast! Jamie White spent most of this past week on DP2, pushing it to its limits. Looking at Jongerius's time on PAL, we could sort of guess that the NTSC lap could go lower and Jamie shocked us all with a blindingly fast 0'16"84!!! He had a low 1'26" WR at this point and went on to do the 5-lap to break 1'26", this was later settled as he hit 1'25"92!! Simon Laflamme only made one WR this week, but an unbeatable looking 0'14"56 on GV3 1-lap will stand for a while by looks of things! Well done there Simon! Sami Çetin made his share of crazy WRs on PAL with a new 0'51"89 WR for VL2 with some nice consistent laps that may settle the VL2 war for the time being. After a tiny improvement on KB2, a bit of DP3 was up next and Sami drove a super 0'15"76 PAL WR!! Raphael Braun was also having his own little battle with Jongerius, this was on KB2. Jongerius had taken the WR, which looked unbeatable but Braun was able to fight back there and drove an amazing new 1'03"26 time!! Back on NTSC we see a return of Ryan Harrington, who has set some superb new improvements cutting a lot off his SR score. These improvements have jumped him up the Players' List a lot to #35, thus deserving a POW! Well done!
Lars Nouwen has returned to SMK aready making some dangerous times! MC2 is getting tighter, followed by a large chop of VL2. The lap on Rainbow Road is also looking promising. He has certainly had an effect on his overall position as he climbs to #14 on the PAL Players' List and passes Maurice Visser for #5 in the Netherlands. Michael Jongerius fought well with KB2 and VL2 times taking WRs, but shortly after losing them. He did manage to cut a few more points off his SR score though and his PR were indeed very fast!! Thorsten Fellberg returned to SMK to have a shot at getting #1 in Germany back from Florian Stern. 6 new PRs saw him reach quite far along the King B line of karters, and although he climbed to #16, he was unable to pass Stern just yet.
French competition continues well! Jérôme Gava drove a few PRs to slightly widen the gap between him and Nicolas Clementy, who almost took back the #1 position in France last week. 2 points off DP3 lap and 1 off CI2 5-lap seem to help for a bit there. Julien Chabanis has returned also to SMK after a long time of inactivity. He too threatened some of the high King karters with only 6 PRs that he made. VL2 needed a lot of points taken down and he did it with a big cut off the 1-lap. MC3 and KB2 were also worthwhile. He is now King B and #19 on the PAL Players' List! Bertrand Voireuchon even made quite a few records and cut some points off. The course to watch out for though was GV3, where he was experimenting over quite a lot. His achievements so far there were really great! He is almost about to pass UK Karter, Neil Rowntree.

UPDATES THIS WEEK
Another great week for Jamie White as he hits WR after WR and widens the gap even further between him and Laflamme. He is really reaching the limits now on many courses it seems, but some he just keeps on going! A great attempt at the Ghost Valley 1 WR of Brian Gallo this week as Jamie hit the platform 5/5, but because of nerves he was kept from cutting the corners that well, resulting in slower laps and a 1'01"25 time. Only 0.60 seconds from the WR now, it is clear that it can be done, it is only a matter of time and more karting on GV1! We knew that KB1 would eventually go under 53 seconds no matter how crazy it is, and he did it with 0'52"92 followed by a lap of 0'10"16. A lot of experimenting with the water is interesting here. What I meant by "he just keeps on going" is the VL1 lap which has gone down to 0'09"59 now!! The best moment came when he took two of Laflamme's WRs that we thought wouldnt be improved on yet, MC1! He worked hard on the course and broke the 5-lap and 1-lap to 0'59"72 and 0'11"80!! BC2 lap has also been cut down a bit now to 0'19"72, he will be able to break 1'40" soon but hard to keep consistent being the longest track in the game.
Darcy White is following in the footsteps of his brother after showing that he is capable of some pretty fast improvements. Although MC1 is still in the Elites, he drove a Legend F time on BC3 1-lap and a pair of GOD times on KB2. He climbed up quickly to #22 in the World on NTSC and #14 in U.S.A! Andrew Livingston also karted this week again in an attempt to get closer to Legend D and pass some more karters. He drove some Legend and some King times, after getting rid of the remainder of King times it seems he can reach higher standards easily.
The German Championship is now on fire. The two fastest there had a live battle this week for #1 in Germany. Florian Stern sent in some PRs early last week and just made it to King A overall. Rainbow Road looked good at sub 1'30" and a promising lap followed. He was maybe going to improve some more the end of the week, but it was too late as Thorsten Fellberg attacked, some SR points off with VL1 almost got him there and finally a course he had difficulty on, DP1, gave him a few extra points, reaching King A also and passing Florian Stern by 1 SR point. Thorsten Fellberg is once again Champion of Germany! It was not all that was happening in Germany this week, our recent entry Dennis Kautz also made some PRs with Koopa and climbed a standard to Expert A. Still a little way to go to reach Semi-Pro G and the next karter, but we are sure he'll make it soon.
Lars Nouwen was also in battle with the two German SMK warriors, maybe they didnt realise, but Lars got the better half of the deal in the end by taking the lead of the three karters, reaching King A some points ahead of them. His CI2 time is looking pretty nice, and he feels it can be improved even more! His GV3 and VL2 laps also went into the Legends, so we are looking at a new Legend karter here pretty soon! Andrew Kent, Champion of Australia has been inactive for a little bit, but sees the danger of all these high King karters casting a shadow over him and Peeters. He will try to be more active soon, and has made a few PRs that cut some points off. Andrew is right behind Edwin Peeters now, and will be climbing further very soon.
Bertrand Voireuchon has been active these past weeks and has made some fantastic PRs. He hit DP3 to put himself in a higher position, and took many seconds off! He also chipped bits off DP2 during the week to end up with a pair of Legend G times. He is now closing in on King D and has passed Neil Rowntree. Archibald Lefevre was the other active Frech karter this week who also played DP3 to make a pair of Legend D times, these cut 4 points off his SR putting him closer to Legend B, he also improved the KB1 trick 5-lap.

AGE LISTS ON TOP TIMES
Some of you may have noticed that the ages lists are a bit outdated on the top times lists. I haven't had time to update these, been a little busy with exams. But I will get these updated soon, just letting you all know.
UPDATES THIS WEEK
A few great new World Records this week on NTSC, including an interesting barier broken!! Jamie White continued at VL1 5-lap to achieve the best possible time he could, really getting tight there now with a new 0'50"67 WR!! His VL2 flap is also cut down to 0'09"36!! Looking pretty unbeatable, but we will see...... Simon Laflamme also had a little fight back but spent his time on BC2. Some unsuccessful runs came through, but in the end a new lap record of 0'19"71!! It didnt end there as he soon after got his brand new sparkling WR of 1'39"99 on to tape! Brilliant stuff there Simon!!
The fun didn't end on NTSC just yet, our recent entry of Wes Kight proved to be a dangerous opponent in SMK! This guy climbed from Elite B to King D within this one week after some serious karting, so we are really seeing U.S.A getting well into Kart! His most noticeable success lies in the Legend times in the water courses. The Harrington Bros. were also active this week. Thomas Harrington set some Legend times and a few GOD, he has now become the 5th NTSC Karter to reach GOD standard overall! He is also very close to #4, Louis-Philippe Sabbagh. Ryan Harrington performed in a similar way to Wes Kight with numerous PRs sent in. His overall standard went up to King E! Hue Le has returned to NTSC SMK! Hue played a few of the longer courses to cut some of his weaker times down. He also hit the platform on GV2, hard to do. He climbed up to #24 in the World on NTSC!
Maurice Visser sent a lot of times in, a few for correction (please make sure that you double check your times when they are sent, saves time changing them over if there are errors). Most of his times were new PRs, that improved his SR by some points, this helped him to reach closer to the players above. Lars Nouwen drove 3 Legend times along with a King A time this week. DP3 was the main target and he is cutting a path through to Franck and Sebastien. Sami Çetin also submitted some PRs, those were for DP2, not very big improvements, but a start.
Florian Stern's fight to take the German Championship back has not ended. He only did two PRs this week which could have been dangerous had Thortsen made some PRs of his own. Luckily, the week went to Florian and a nice GOD time on VL1 along with a high King on BC1 5-lap saw him through to take the lead once more! Dennis Kautz continued to kart, but this time with Bowser. The higher speed has proven to be a success, and he may be using this more later. He managed to reach Semi-Pro G and is on the way to catching Jonathan Cem Pulleine.
Bertrand Voireuchon has really driven some spectacular times on GV3! Special credit to him there, it seems he has tied both of Edwin Peeter's times! Along with that further improvements on already fast KB1 were hit, along with a pair of Legend E times on GV2. A small change to DP1 lap was corrected. He has now reached King C overall standard! Archibald Lefevre is slowly getting back into SMK and has so far made a decent chop off MC2 lap! His SR is getting ever closer to Legend B overall.
