RETIRED KARTERS : SOME CORRECTED TIMES
Simon Laflamme was digging up some old SMK sites and found some records for a few NTSC karters that were not previously updated on the site. As a result of these few improvements, Dennis Snowdon, Laurens Liem and Richard Sturmfels made some tiny cuts to their SR scores. Stéphane Cerveau and Chris Olmedo however made bigger climbs and they are now in Elite D. Cheers for checking that up Simon!
PR UPDATE
I got though my week ok in the end, firstly apologising for this early update, but things should be back to normal next week. NTSC karters kept active with Xavier Jutras setting PRs on all of the cups earning him the Elite B standard and a #44 placing on the NTSC Players' List. Martin Morissette improved CI1, MC4 and KB2 that finally helped him past Harrington for #4 on NTSC. He is now very close to reaching #3 on NTSC rom Stanley Jeram. Jason Fraser continued setting GOD times and some Legend A's that have brought him closer to reaching Michael Liem.
French Champion, Pierre L'Hoëst after forcing out some more fast records on the KBs and GV3 passed Swedish Champion, Kalle Videkull by a few points for #3 on PAL. Matthew McCarthy passed two players (Franck Mazières and Belgian Champion, Peter Toch) and reached Legend E overall and #13 on PAL. Christian Holz improved his GV1 lap time to cut a little more off his SR score.

NEW MEMBER
We have a new NTSC member joining the site; Simon Binette from Canada who has a pair of great MC1 times! Along with those he has already submitted his full set of records to earn him a position on the site at #71 on the NTSC World Rankings. His overall standard is Master E. Welcome to the site Simon!
PR UPDATE
NTSC World Champion, Jamie White hit back this week improving one of his strongest courses yet again! CI1 NTSC 5-lap WR now stands at 0'57"15! Julien Holmière made a return to SMK after his F-Zero adventure and has hit a good set of PRs, including a new WR for the fastlap of CI2 on PAL with 0'13"35!
Pierre L'Hoëst continued to defend his position at #1 in France with strong records for DP2 and a 0.1 cut off GV2 that looks very solid. He is also getting closer to WRs on KB1! Sébastien Holmière made some nice improvements to VL2 with a near sub 10 second time at the lap. Matthew McCarthy improved 5 records that helped him make some way through the Legend E standard. His PRs included double GOD times for VL1. Kalle Videkull improved 2 records; MC2 lap and a nice GOD record for CI2 5-lap. We had a return from Champion of Switzerland, Raphael Braun! He has been working on a few of his weaker standards and is now very close to passing Gerard Roodhorst again. Legend B is also within close range for Raphael!
Back on NTSC, Jason Fraser is again keeping active and has set nice DP2 and MC3 times including solid GOD records for KB2. These helped him pass Michael Liem for #7 on NTSC and he has crept into Legend A! Martin Morissette is getting ever closer to Stanley Jeram, so expect a little battle here, or Martin may take the #2 position in Canada next week. Martin has made a couple of cuts to GV2, MC4 and KB2. Ray Bergstrom returned to SMK for a while to break a few records here and there and he finally made it to Legend G overall standard. Well done Ray! Stanley Jeram improved BC1 lap time and reached a GOD record there.

NEW PHOTOS ADDED
Photographs of Sébastien Holmière and Martin Morissette have been added to the SMK photo gallery, if any more of you have photos, feel free to email them.
AGE COLUMNS IN TOP TIMES
I have been speaking to some karters this week and have decided to remove the age columns from the top times and WR pages, simply because it is becoming a hassle to keep updating them all the time, plus it will look wierd when we are all for example 128 years old etc. on the lists. At the moment the age columns still stand, but they will be removed by next week's update.
Instead of that, it is much better to have a karter's date of birth in their profile. So if you wish to have your date of birth displayed in your profile, then let me know through email. It is only optional, so you don't have to have your d.o.b. on your profile, but it obviously wouldn't require any updating, which is less to worry about.
PR UPDATE
French Champion, Pierre L'Hoëst took the lead this week with 4 superb new PAL WRs! These included Mario Circuit 3 with some boosting to reach 1'31"61 and 0'18"11! He then went on to Koopa Beach 1 and cut them down to 0'53"80 and 0'10"09! Swedish Champion, Kalle Videkull was in quite a close SR battle after destroying his DP1 times, particularly the lap and then managed to take the CI2 5-lap PAL WR to 1'10"50! He came close to taking #3 from Pierre, so the battle continues next week hopefully!
Other active PAL members included Sébastien Holmière who improved on KB1 and CI2 with 3 very fast PRs, and British veteran karter, Gavin Ward who managed to lower his Rainbow lap gaining an SR point.
Over on NTSC, Martin Morissette finally reached another benchmark after some close to NTSC WR PRs on DP1 and some quick improvements on DP2. He passed Stanley Jeram to be #2 in Canada and #3 in the World on NTSC. Xavier Jutras sent a number of records in and climbed to Elite A and #40 on NTSC. He just missed reaching the Kings by a few points, he will likely reach it next week. Mark Sunderland returned to kart some more and improved a few of his weaker courses. He managed to reach Ray Bergstrom and become Legend G at the same time! We may see one of them take the lead next week.
Jason Fraser sent us a PR for KB2 and two faster times for MC3, he is getting closer to GOD there, we will see how he does there in the next weeks. He is slowly cutting his way towards GOD overall. Tom Koeppel Jr has been improving a lot of his records on all the cups and has passed some karters on the NTSC List to become #84 and Expert B! Colombian & South American Champion, Juan Sebastián Arévalo returned to cut large amounts off his VL2 records and make them both GOD times! This has put him closer to Legend B! We look forward to seeing improvements from him!

MARIO KART UPDATED NEWS! Sami Çetin's update, 22nd June 2003 |
NEW MEMBER
Sami Çetin recruited a friend from the Borough of Croydon, South London this week. He recruited John Barber, who recently purchased his own SNES/SMK and has started Time Trialing. John's target before joining was to pass an old friend Joseph Harakis on the PAL list. Years ago, Harakis used to race him on Match Races and GPs and beat him several times, so John has now been able to fight back and creep ahead of him on Time Trials. John Barber enters the PAL Players List/World Rankings at #93 with an overall standard of Expert G and will be improving his PRs soon!
NEW PHOTO ADDED TO THE PHOTO GALLERY
John Barber, who has just become a member of the site (see above) has also selected a picture that has been added to the SMK photo gallery.
PR UPDATES
Sébastien Holmière has karted a lot this week with some great new times for KB1 and VL1 and other times! His efforts got him to -4 SR score, this earned him this week's POW! Well done Sébastien! French Champion Pierre L'Hoëst continued to increase his lead on the karters below with improvements on his weaker courses, making use of the boost on MC1 more and some faster GOD times for BC2. Kalle Videkull lost a little pace as Sébastien has gotten a bit closer on the SR points but he managed to push his Donut Plains 1 times down even further, the lap is looking great!
On NTSC, Martin Morissette improved his SR a little by a nice time on VL2 without the difficult island jump and a pair of GOD times for CI1. Jason Fraser improved BC2 and KB1 and his SR is getting step by step closer to GOD overall.
