    Julien Chabanis has made 10 nice PRs this week including big SR cuts off from Donut Plains 1 and Donut Plains 3!! He is really starting to follow Nicolas's standard on more courses now and really looks ready to be a Legend sometime later after more karting! JOSEPH HURTGEN CLIMBS 3 POSITIONS ON NTSC PLAYERS' LIST!!

    Joseph Hurtgen has made a number of PRs this week, taking more and has managed to pass 3 SR-close players on the list!! Some great PRs happened such as GV2 jump success on the lap, getting better every week. KB2 is nearly going to GOD on the 5-lap. The best piece of karting this week from Joseph had to be on Choco Island 2, his strongest course so far! It looks as though he could be after a lap WR there, possibly even the 5-lap sometime later. Joseph now ranks at #7 on NTSC and remains on King C.

GERARD ROODHORST TAKES TWO OF SAMI'S WORLD RECORDS!!

    Yes, it has happened, KB2, where Gerard was trying hard for some great times has managed to drive both 5-lap and 1-lap WRs!!! The 5-lap was a very good race and the 1-lap really well driven. Gerard has reported that these are both recorded on PAL VHS tape, so we may get to see these sometime later in the future! Afterwards, he also tried a bit of GV3 and made some nice results! The end result was a climb in Gerard's overall standard, from Legend F to Legend E!

SAMI ÇETIN RESPONDS TO ROODHORST'S KB2 SUCCESS

    Ok, so I didn't get to take the WRs back yet, but I did have a try to see what the possibilities are. I tried to get my 1-lap improved, but it wasn't a great success, I'm convinced there is room for more somehow but it is a flukey course. The 5-lap took a while to do, but I drove a nice 0'13"09 first lap and finished the race with more fairly good laps to hit a new PR, this cut some more off the SR. I have this time on tape aswell.

MICHAEL LIEM DEFENDS #1

    Michael Liem was passed this week by some improvements from Stanley Jeram, so defending his title, he seeked somewhere where he could get enough SR points off. With many NTSC players hitting great DP1 times at 1'17" and 1'16", even heading for 1'15", Michael decided this was the place, and he cut down enough of his SR to keep the first place! His SR is under 2.5, meaning he is half way now to reaching Legend B!! It will be great to see how the overall standards of the NTSC players improve over the next few months.

JERAM REACHES #1 IN CANADA AGAIN!

    Stanley Jeram has karted a bit on VL1 this week in an attempt to reach and pass Michael Liem! After Liem's last minute improvements on DP1, Stan lost his chance this week, but did make a good few points cut on his SR from this course, and it is still really close between the top positions.

NICOLAS CLEMENTY MAKES A FEW PRS

    Nicolas Clementy didn't play a lot of SMK this week although he did make 4 nice PRs including MC1. His MC1 times in the 1'01"7s are heading towards Zwartjes, Cortes and Peeters soon. BC2 is really getting faster now at 1'45". Nicolas has been able to lower his SR a bit further and will be reaching Zwartjes sometime soon.

NICOLAS CLEMENTY CLIMBS TO #3 ON PAL!!

    Nicolas Clementy made 11 PRs this week, mainly concentrating on the Donut Plains courses, his DP1 times being really fast now near the mid 1'17"s!! DP3 is around Edwin's times at the moment, with more potential, we may see some more great times there later! Nicolas has also improved a GOD time on Koopa Beach 2 fastlap! So far, he has passed Steven Zwartjes on the Players' List with an SR closing down towards the Legend F/E barrier. Gerard may encounter close competition soon if Nicolas continues to improve at this pace!

KEVIN BOOTH'S SLEEPER COURSES

    Kevin Booth defined some of his courses as "sleeper courses". Basically where he may be able to make sudden improvements that are of a great amount or standard, a course with potential for some big times! Karting on those courses this week he made some decent improvements! Double GOD on KB2 that is getting faster, nice improvements on DP2 with more room left still, and some nice DP3 times along with a CI2 lap PR. Kevin has now reached Legend E overall and is ready to improve further on these courses and maybe others soon also!

    Joseph Hurtgen didn't kart as much this week, but made some small cuts on 6 times lowering the SR a bit further. Smal improvements on Rainbow, MC4 and GV3 1-lap. MC1 was a success as he is now close to breaking the 1'01" barrier which will be done very soon, KB2 GOD times are looking good aswell! Joseph remains at King C for the moment but his SR is getting closer to King B now, only 11 points to go!

LIEM IMPROVES WR AND EXTENDS 1ST PLACE LEAD

    Michael Liem spent some time on Mario Circuit 2 this week to lower some times that had potential for more. Many good attempts happened, fastlap improvements along the way. At one point a very consistent race but a ruined lap resulted in Michael losing the chance at the 5-lap WR. He remains at 1'16" there, but a nice lap in the high 14s happened. After trying BC2 for a while, Michael was able to improve his 1-lap WR there! His result in the end was 6 points off the SR placing him further ahead of Stan and 12 points from Legend B!!

STAN SLOWLY CATCHING MICHAEL

    Stan is on his way to catching Liem, but a bit at a time. He played MC1 first this week and a tie with the fastlap happened, and a new PR on the 5-lap. Donut Plains 1 (1-lap) was also a good attempt with small improvements off and eventually a PR nearly going sub 15 seconds. Stan's PRs took a bit more off the SR to put him at the half way point towards Legend B!!

MY VISIT TO GERMANY

    Some of you may already have heard, but I will be going to Germany for one week on Saturday the 24th of March and will return on Saturday 31st March. I am going together with a few classes from College.

    As you know, this will mean no update on Thursday 29th March, so I will have to put it all into the next update on Thursday 5th April. The POW for next week will still be available and is based on the PRs that are sent in from today until the 29th. I will check the dates that the e-mails are sent in and use those to determine the POW for next week. So if you wish to claim a POW and you have PRs, it is advisable to get them sent in this week rather than leaving it till after i get back.

    Hopefully when I get to Germany I will meet lots of people and try to promote the site if possible to those who are interested in SMK.

    Raphael is the star karter this week for sending in 38 new PRs!!! Some great improvements particularly on Mario Circuit 1, Ghost Valley 1, Ghost Valley 2 and Mario Circuit 4!     Having joined the site recently at Expert G, PAL Player Mike Groels has set 13 new PRs!! Mainly focusing on the Mushroom Cup he has nearly gone under the 1'10" on MC1, into sub 1'40" on DP1 with quite a few other improvements on that cup. He has also set a few PRs on Flower Cup. Altogether he has moved up to #33 on the PAL list on an Expert E overall standard.

    Stanley Jeram set two PRs to continue his attack for the World Championship Title. A nice DP1 (5-lap) and MC3 (1-lap) lowered the SR slightly, leaving more potential on MC3 as he stated that he hit the dirt twice on the lap.

NICOLAS CLEMENTY PASSES GERARD FOR #2 ON PAL!!

    Nicolas Clementy struggled a bit this week to make many PRs, but some good practice has been made that will make further PRs easier to reach soon. Mario Circuit 1 and Mario Circuit 2 Fastlaps were targeted and new PRs were made taking 4 points off Nicolas' SR score. This resulted in a position change as he passed Gerard Roodhorst to be #2 on PAL!!

MICHAEL LIEM IMPROVES MC3 1-LAP WR!!

    NTSC World Champion, Michael Liem has set an MC3 (1-lap) WR improvement to open up more potential for the 5-lap. Sub 18 second laps may be possible to do soon, sharp cornering is difficult here and a hop cutting out the tip of the sharp turn is also not easy. A lap under 18"10 looked great so far, and his SR has lowered by a point also.
