UPDATES THIS WEEK
A long list of times were sent in by some karters this week, along with some spectacular WRs!! Simon Laflamme shocked us all! Simon Laflamme hit some big surpises this week. He was determined to get past Mikihiko on MC1, and he managed to do it with an unbeatable 0'59"80 WR, along with a new lap WR of 0'11"82! He didn't stop there, he was off to KB2 next taking Louis-Philippe's lap to 0'11"57 and improving his 5-lap record to 1'00"59! He also tried out some trick races for fun. Jamie White is the other karter who recently joined. Already he is PRing like mad, and has also hit the VL2 WR at 0'51"82! He is making great progress as he reaches Legend F overall!
Andrew Livingston responded to Jamie White's PRs with 15 PRs of his own. There is currently competition between these two. Although Jamie has taken the lead this time, Andrew was still able to cut 51 points off the SR score that brought him into the Legends at Legend G! Once again we look forward to next weeks' results. Back over in Canada, Kent Marten made 7 new PRs to increase his position on the ladder and overall standard. He drove 3 Master times and 4 Elites, and cut quite a bit off his SR Score. He is now an Elite F Karter and has jumped up the ladder to #38!!
Matthieu Cruypenninck is not giving up on his goals! He has karted a lot in the past week and hit many super fast times. He has been working on some records to get them to Legend, and has been successful there. It seems he will someday not too far in the future join the Legend Karters. He is now up at King D overall, #21 in the World on PAL and now #8 in France! Julien David, Matthieu's cousin drove equally as many records since their last update, many of the times are in the Kings. Julien is really catching up on the races fast to many other players and is now in the Kings at King G and #28!
Jérôme Gava played only two courses this week, but is getting very close now to Nicolas Clementy and becoming champion of France. He hit VL1 hard this week with a 56 second effort very close to the World Record, his other PR was for MC3 1-lap that cut an SR point off. Raphael Braun is back again after a short break and has had some difficulty PRing but managed 6 new records. The two GOD times he made were for VL1. Raphael is getting closer to Legend E now.

NEW MEMBER
We have a new NTSC member this week, that is Robbert Versteegh, from the Netherlands. Robbert was lucky enough to play on an NTSC Snes, so he has been able to join the NTSC list. So far he has some great times and standards as he joins the NTSC Players' List at #33 and Elite D overall. Welcome to the site Robbert!
UPDATES THIS WEEK
Some amazing new records have been made this week despite having only a few active karters! History has been made by Raphael Braun, Champion of Switzerland for making his first World Record time that was previously hedl by Gerard Roodhorst, a former Dutch Champion. Raphael stuck to Koopa Beach 2 like glue and lowered his time through the 1'04"s and he evetually broke into 1'03"! He didn't stop there as he tried so hard to beat Gerard's time, then it happened.... 1'03"66!! Congratulations Raphael! Raphael Braun has managed to cut off more on his SR score now and has reached the Legend E standard!
The guy who PR'ed like mad again this week was none other than NTSC Karter Jamie White! This guy cut a lot of SR points, particularly on the courses with GOD time bonuses. He is even getting very close to the VL1 WRs! Altogether he cut off 75 points placing him on Legend D standard overall with a #8 placing on the NTSC Players' List! Andrew Livingston tried very hard but couldn't keep up with Jamie's PRs. However he made some impressive new times, including a good shot towards a 1'00"00 on MC1 and promising GOD times on KB2! After getting more GOD tiems with bonuses, his SR will get much faster! He has climbed to Legend F and #12 on the NTSC List.
Thorsten Fellberg made a return this week with some nice PRs, cutting off enough SR points to reach King B overall. This also meant that he breaks out of the tie with Ademir Cortes. We look forward to hearing of his PRs soon. Jérôme Gava is getting very close now to becoming Champion of France. He had a good chance but only made 1 PR this week, that was for KB2 fastlap. Well done so far Jérôme, keep up the great work! Will Nicolas Clementy return to defend his French SMK title??

UPDATES THIS WEEK
We have had a few less karters participating this week, but it ceratinly didn't go without a WR or two! Nicolas Clementy, the Champion of France broke a great barrier this week on Ghost Valley 3 fastlap with a 0'14"98 PAL WR!!! He also made other great PRs that have started to move him closer to Legend A and Jongerius! Michael Jongerius played this week also, he submitted a really fast DP2 fastlap which i did not update this week because I may ask for proof of his times, at least for him to work on taping DP2. His other PRs this week however earned him a faster SR in the Legend A standard to hold Nicolas back for just a bit longer, his MC1 lap under 12"20 looked nice and his improved 5-lap WR on DP2 of 1'28"39 is looking superb!
Sébastien Pereda has returned to SMK this week after a long absence! It is great to have old karters return as this adds to the competition! He looks ready to make a run toward Legend standard as he already made 9 PRs this week. He managed to scrape through to King A overall at 8.000 SR! François Mangeol also made a return, but with just one PR so far. This slightly increased his SR, we will see how his improvements go next week. Kent Marten on NTSC from Canada is really getting into his PRs now and is digging his path through the Elite karters pretty well. 7 new PRs this week brought him up to Elite E overall and #38 on the NTSC Players' List!

MARIO KART UPDATED NEWS! Sami Çetin's update, 28th March 2002 |
THIS WEEK'S CRAZY PRS!
Last week things were quiet.... this week some karters were on serious fire!!! Jamie White has been destroying his PRs left, right and centre with some super fast times close to many World Records! He landed VL1 3-lap at a new 0'53"31 WR and later took KB2 to new levels with 1'00"44 and 0'11"54!! A question arises here.... will sub 1'00" be made on this course? Only time will tell, it will not be easy though that is for sure! Jamie is now the new SMK Champion of USA with a Legend A overall standard!! He has also reported that he is getting a tape for his times on the way, we may possibly get to see some mpegs in the new future! This week also sees the return of Stanley Jeram! It is not certain yet as to if he is making a full return as he is very busy lately. We all have a lot to do in our lives that takes priority over SMK. But he has proven himself worthy by shocking the World by taking a historical WR from Brian Gallo! It is none other than GV1 lap which now stands at 0'11"99!! Now only the 5-lap stands, which will be possible, yet incredibly difficult! Jeram made a few other PRs and altogether cut some SR points down. NTSC World Champion, Simon Laflamme went off to MC4, his weakest course and hit two nice WRs there! He is working his way to the GOD times, so far his records are 1'38"57 and 0'19"42, doing well so far! Keep at it Simon! If you thought that was all for the crazy WRs this week, check out what Michael Jongerius has done! He drove very close to the DP1 5-lap WR, and managed to land a WR tie on the 1-lap of 0'15"16*! He then managed to knock out that full potential on DP2 with his blindingly fast 1'27"93 and 0'17"31 PAL WRs!! Jongerius is now very close to becoming the second PAL GOD standard karter!
Pierre L'Hoëst karted for 10 hours over the weekend and made 23 new records! A lot of them were weaker standards now improved, and some very fast GOD times on VL1 driven! He not only made his way to Legend C, but also almost to Legend B and passed Lefevre for #3 in France and #5 in the World on PAL!! Julien David has karted this week on his own, usually Matthieu Cruypenninck karts together. This means that David is catching him pretty quick now. He made 19 new PRs, most of which were King standard times. He cut his way through to King E overall and #25 on the PAL Players' List! Thorsten Fellberg also sent some nice records through this week, a few King A times and the rest Legend, all looking good! He cut down some points off his SR score.
Sébastien Pereda has continued his PR-ing streak since last week's return, he is catching Andrew pretty fast now, and also setting his targets on Legend G, which he is sure to reach sooner than we think! Andrew Kent, although retired from SMK, has returned to defend his position from Pereda. He would have been passed if it weren't for his new records made this week. Some nice Legend times on the Flower Cup courses, MC1 and GV1 also getting better! His SR score landed just a few points ahead of Pereda, it will be interesting to see the outcome next week.
The battle for #1 in France is getting critical now! Jérôme Gava is the karter who is attacking Nicolas Clementy at the moment. Gava has made amazing progress in KB2 also this week with times in the 1'03"s!! His lap record was also fast and a GOD time. He also drove some other Legend times for KB1 fastlap and MC3 both. He is only 4 SR points off Nicolas Clementy who this week with a BC2 fastlap cut a few points off to save his position for this week. Nicolas's PR was a great shot at the World Record, but a near miss! He is also pretty close to reaching Legend A overall, he may be able to make it by the next update depending on the amount of PRs, we'll see! Franck Mazieres is back to SMK! He drove super times on Ghost Valley 2, the 5-lap which was Legend B and the fastlap a GOD time. A few points were taken down the SR score.
On the NTSC side again we see Joseph Hurtgen returning to SMK to reclaim the higher positions of SMK Karters in U.S.A! He is trying to follow behind Jamie White, and is doing great so far, with many new records and a climb to #9 on the NTSC Players' List past Kevin Booth! Lastly, Elite karter Kent Marten makes a nice quick improvement on BC1 fastlap, this cut a few more points down the SR to move him closer to the karters above.
