I took a load of photos from about 6 weeks ago and finally got round to getting them developed. It included an ok pic of me so I replaced that old (ill looking) one of myself with the new (healthier) one.

THIS WEEK'S CRAZY NEWS : A NEW CHAMPION!!!

This week is very special for NTSC!! There are not words that can explain how well Jamie White is doing nowadays! This guy entered the site, and with a lot of help and strats has torn several track times to pieces! He sent in a lot of PRs this week, most of which were new WRs, some ridiculously fast, with many great barriers broken and supposedly some predicted limits reached! Sadly, after Simon Laflamme's injury, Simon was unable to kart to such a great extent, not until he is better and fit to kart in the same way again. Jamie therefore took the chance and attacked for the #1 position. Jamie's new NTSC World Records were as follows:   GV2 fastlap, a WR tie at 0'11"77*!!, DP2 (going really crazy here now) with 1'26"27 and (big barrier reached) 0'16"99!!!, BC2 flap snatched at 0'19"78!, MC3 lap taken a bit faster to 0'17"92 (previously by Laflamme), BC3 flap (how fast can this go?!?!?!?!) 0'17"55!! and finally on VL1 0'52"73 and an unbelievable lap of 0'09"81!!! Simon tried to fight back with some nice records by taking Liem's GV2 5-lap to 1'00"87 with a 2/5 jump trick, a lap WR tie of 0'11"77* and a close attempt at VL1, but Jamie was too quick for him, and responded with some of those times mentioned above. Jamie White has now become the new NTSC World Champion!!!! Congratulations Jamie!!!!

The fun didn't stop there as far as fights to the death in SMK were concerned......

System:   PAL,   Sami Çetin vs Michael Jongerius.......... venue:   GV2!! Yes, it was a tough battle, lets check out what happened here. This is meant to be the course for the French competition in which the WRs may be beaten but the Dutch Champion and UK/World Champion will also throw their hands into the Time Trial for GV2 and give it everything they've got. Michael at first attempted to take the GV2 5-lap with a nice 1'02"60 time following with a 0'12"38 lap which at the time was a WR tie. He reported to have hit this lap a few times over, so he was sure that the 5-lap should go lower. Shortly after he tied the WR 5-lap at 1'02"58. Then Sami Çetin responded with a 1'02"54; feeling that he was in the safe zone he took a rest, only to find that Jongerius had already gone to a sub 1'02"50 WR at 1'02"48! Sami Çetin was about to give up when he picked up the controller and had many stuffed up attempts. Out of anger he went to play for the fastlap, this time attempting the jump which he hit before but went too wide after and tied 0'12"38. Suddenly it happened, he landed the platform and quickly straightened cutting the corner very tightly and finished the rest of the lap with tight cornering to end up with an unbelievable (and unbeatable for a while at least) lap of 0'12"06!!! Tried to finish the race then for a 5-lap which would have been interesting but hit a wall on the next lap and even fell off on the small crack. Sami still wasn't going to give up on the 5-lap, so he had some more attempts on 5-lap racing a ghost and hit a 1'02"46 WR! Some SR points were cut off there which did help. The 1'02"46 time was taped.

Martin Morisette was the karter who really climbed high and fast this week in the Players' List. From down in the Pro's to Elite D is pretty quick! He drove 40 out of 40 new times, we look forward to seeing his progress over the next weeks. Peter Hurtgen also made himself famous with quite a few new records and a cut off the SR down to Elite F overall!! This meant that he jumped up the list also to #45! Joseph Hurtgen drove quite a lot on some courses like MC2 and managed a GOD standard on the lap record. His other times are looking good aswell and he has moved ahead of Kelly Malo for #8 on NTSC and #4 in U.S.A, just behind Jason Whalls. Former U.S. Champion Thomas Harrington has returned also with several new PRs and some nice chops of races like KB1 and KB2 and CI2 which were already GOD standard. He is now closing in on the Legend B overall standard, maybe next week he can reach it!

Peter Toch karted once again this week and gained himself a higher position on the list with some nice new records. Some of these included more Legend times, which is looking nice plus some improvements on weaker courses. He is now King D overall standard and #24 on the PAL Players' List. Serge Ludescher is climbing to higher standards aswell with a lot of new records and a Legend F time for GV2 5-lap. He is getting closer to the next standard, a few more points will do it. Hampus Lindin is really doing well now and challenging the other Swedish karters. He seems willing to fight his way through to the top. He is not even King overall and has reached Legend G on MC3 5-lap! Florian Stern, the 3rd fastest German karter cut 8 SR points off this week and climbed to #22 on the PAL Players' List! Not long till King C!

The French competition comprised of a return from Bertrand Voireuichon this week. He didn't set many PRs, but did cut quite a few points off with the ones he did. A pair of Legend times on GV2 looked promising and a jump on GV1 lap for a faster time. 8 points cut off VL2 along with the other records earned him the King D standard overall and #25 placing on the PAL Players' List. Franck Mazières sent in 3 new Legend times, two of which were on BC2, his SR landed dead on 8.000 just about putting him at King A overall! Andrew Kent sent in VL1 improvements that took some more points off, and a pair of KB1 trick times. He is starting to catch Edwin Peeters on SR Score.

UPDATES THIS WEEK

Michael Jongerius had a great week this week after setting some nice new WRs!! He first attacked some of the trick times and ended up with a new WR for the GV1 trick at 0'51"54 with Yoshi! His battle was not over on GV2 as he improved the 5-lap to a new WR at 1'02"44! The next course he really worked on a lot was DP1, these were two of Sami Çetin's strong WRs, now they are gone with Jongerius's spectacular driving at 1'16"69 and 0'15"14! From there he took Gava's VL1 5-lap down to 0'55"81 after seeing the room for improvement. VL2 was his next target and again another two of Sami's strong WRs go bye bye! Some great attempts made here, and his finishing times were 0'52"77 and 0'10"23!! Michael cut off a lot of points for this great week, check out his SR!! Andrew Kent also had an attempt at a WR this week and managed one with a trick time on VL2 5-lap with 0'52"77! The Laflamme/White battles over #1 continue! Simon Laflamme actually managed to take back the #1 position during a part of this week, but it was quickly taken back. Simon took Ghost Valley 3 to incredible lengths with new WRs of 1'13"75!! and 0'14"61!! MC2 followed next and he really wanted that lap record, but managed to tie Jamie with 0'14"56*, however he was confident with the 5-lap and improved it to a new WR of 1'14"51!! However, his best moment came when he hit something he really wanted on VL2 fastlap!! 0'09"56!!! This lowered his SR score quite a bit that keeps him not too far behind Jamie. Jamie White's week involved taking the BC3 WRs further, a new 5-lap of 1'29"20 and an improved lap!! Yes, it still gets faster!!! 0'17"53!!! Then he really pushed VL1 far with a 0'51"70 time and also a WR for VL2 5-lap at 0'51"52. He worked hard on Rainbow Road but landed a WR tie in the lap at 0'17"01*! His SR is getting closer to -5 now, which I have to say is pretty crazy!

It was a great week for German karter Florian Stern, because with 20 new PRs including a fast GOD time on VL1 lap and many other great times including many Legends, he has made it to King B overall standard and #1 in Germany past Thorsten Fellberg!! A nice week also for Maurice Visser who also submitted many PRs chopping his way through to King D overall and #25 on the PAL Players' List. He states that he is unable to play for a while because of Schoolwork, so we look forward to when he returns. Hampus Lindin is becoming a much faster karter with his recent records. He cut off 23 points on KB1 along with quite a few others on the other tracks. He landed a nice time with a 5/5 junmp on GV3 which also helped him a lot. He now stands at King G overall and is #34 on the PAL Players' List and #3 in Sweden!! Peter Toch didn't kart as much this week but climbed up to #23 with some good PRs on the Special Cup tracks!

The Super Hurtgen Bros. are at it again!! Joseph Hurtgen has climbed to a higher position in U.S.A after passing Jason Whalls to make him #3 there, and #7 on NTSC. He made a successful lap on VL1 and quite a few other nice PRs. He is determined to catch Thomas Harrington to become #2 in U.S.A and he is only a point short from reaching Legend C! Peter Hurtgen continues his fighting in the Elite standards. Once again he set a lot of PRs including a few more King times. He is definitely following in his brother's footsteps here in SMK and it will be interesting to see where they both are at some time in the future. Peter climbed to #33 on the NTSC Players' List and Elite D overall!

UPDATES THIS WEEK

Quite an active week again for many players, World Records on NTSC have continued and we have two karters under -5 SR!!! Jamie White continues to defend his recently gained title of NTSC Time Trial World Champion with some nice new records. A fastlap record on MC2 went very nicely after cutting the corners in an insane way bring up a lap of 0'14"39!! If we thought V1 lap would stay for a little while longer we werre wrong, it has been lowered already to 0'09"76!! This may be the last we see of WRs here in the near future, cos Jamie said it was a really tight lap. He managed a GOD time in MC4 lap which opens up more potential for the 5-lap! New time is 0'19"38! He also took DP3 lap away slightly to 0'15"62! There was a little battle on VL2 with Jamie and Simon, Jamie in the end took the lead with a new WR of 0'50"38!! This will go sub 50 seconds soon, this is really crazy!! Lastly a new lap was made on Rainbow Road with 0'16"99* which ended up as a WR tie, the 17 second barrier finally broken!! Simon Laflamme also had a good week with some nice times that cut some SR points putting him past the -5 barrier! He took the VL2 WR which was later beaten by Jamie and made some close times on KB2. He tied Jamie's 0'16"99* lap on Rainbow Rad lap and made a new 5-lap WR at 1'25"47!! The Laflamme-White battle continues!

Still at NTSC, two other karters really shocked us with their improvements! A return from Canadian Karter, James Pettingill was a suprise! And his other surpise was the 257 points he cut off with his PRs!! He worked around on all the courses and it was a great success. Some courses really went fast! He climbed through to #36 on the NTSC Players' List and is at Elite D standard!! Martin Morrisette was the other one who cut a lot of points down for one week! A lot of Elite times on all round courses earned him a position at #30 on the NTSC Players' List and an Elite B overall standard! Thomas Harrington also made a return this week and surprised us all with some nice GOD times on his favourite courses. His SR reached the Legend B standard and he is in a tie with Michael Liem. We may see that change very soon!

Maurice Visser is one Dutch karter that is ripping up all his times in an insane way! He is really going for it and will reach the Legends soon at this rate!! He PR'ed on most courses cutting off a lot of points, good for his overall standard! He had to win a POW for this effort as he reached King B, #18 on the PAL Players' List and #5 in the Netherlands! Michael Jongerius has been at it again, with a great pair of GOD times on MC1 and MC2, followed by some other great PRs, he has been a great success this week! Franck Mazières hit some nice PRs this week, 9 altogether. These laps cut him past half way through the King A standard, right behind Pereda! Bertrand Voireuchon has been karting GV1 with the use of the jump to help his times, he was pretty successful here and we may see more improvements soon. His real highlight were the superb KB1 times, the 5-lap of which nearly broke the 1'00" barrier! Peter Toch again didn't kart too much this week but still had a decent set of PRs that helped him climb through to the King C standard overall!

German Champion, Florian Stern sent 6 new records in this week, half of which were Legend times and half Kings. He climbed to #14 on the PAL Players' List after passing the Champion of Sweden, Joakim Alderborn. Andrew Kent cut some nice SR points of with DP1, MC2 and CI2 to faster King standards. He was happy with that as he gets closer to former Champion Edwin Peeters. Hampus Lindin only sent one PR in but it was enough to cut 13 points off the SR, it was a GOD time on VL1 lap! This not only cut 13 points but helped him to pass 3 people! Lastly Sami Çetin karted for a bit, and only ended up with a small VL2 lap improvement, took an SR point off at least!

We have a new French player this week joining PAL SMK! Cedric Leutwyler has entered the PAL Players' List at #46 and with an Elite F standard overall! We look forward to hearing more of his improvements!

GERMAN SMK SITE

Florian Stern e-mailed this week letting us know that he has created a German SMK site to recruit German karters! I will add this link along with the link of Nicolas Clementy's French SMK site to the above boxes. Special thanks to Florian Stern!

UPDATES THIS WEEK

It has been a much less active week this week but still some exciting stuff. It was my turn to catch up on some PRs, so here goes. Sami Çetin karted most of Tuesday and Wednesday in order to make some new improvements and World Records. Most of the stuff he got on tape, unfortunately some of you may have read from yahoogroups in the email what happened to the SMK cartridge, it is ok for now at least. On to the PRs: Bowser Castle 1 went very well with new PAL WRs at 1'29"21 and 0'17"73!! MC2 had some time spent on it to make a new lap of 0'15"08! VL2 was where the real success came with a superb new lap jumping to the island with 0'09"77!!!, and a new 5-lap time of 0'52"71 (5-lap on tape)! The VL2 trick was something new to try out and had a good result for the first few goes with a PAL WR time at 0'52"55 followed by a fairly decent lap. On NTSC the Jamie-Laflamme battle continues!! There were less PRs made but some times getting very fast here! Jamie White finally took Simon's VL2 flap down to 0'09"51 and then went on to Rainbow Road to hit some pretty sickening laps! numerous 16 second laps were made as he fought his way through to the 5-lap GOD time, which he did reach but missed the WR, however his lap went down to 0'16"94!!! Simon Laflamme went on to MC3 only this week and didn't cut any real load off the SR score, but was having his first shot at the sub 1'30"00. He is finding it tough to do, but can do it, because his latest lap PR is now 0'17"88!!, and 5-lap WR improved to 1'30"28!!

Franck Mazières had a good week with 5 new PRs including some decent goes at MC3 and DP3 got him enough SR points down to pass Sebastien Pereda by 1 point for the #12 position in the World on PAL and #5 in France! Florian Stern drove two small PRs, getting an SR point off with KB2 flap. Michael Jongerius had a go at BC1 and made a WR tie which was later beaten. His GOD time at KB1 5-lap is also lookin' sharp! Andrew Kent played a few trick times this week on GV1 and KB1. The KB1 is looking very nice now, it would be interesting to see him go for a WR there maybe!

UPDATES THIS WEEK

Some more interesting events have occured this week at the SMK site. Jamie White has once again taken over as far as WRs are concerned. The gap between him and former champion Laflamme is now increasing. Jamie continues to push VL1 beyond every barrier we thought possible and has new WRs of 0'51"39 and 0'09"71 on NTSC! KB2 has some crazy potential despite it being a slow going race, he made use of glides and speed well here and cut his 5-lap WR down to 0'59"69 and a ridiculously fast 0'11"28 for the 1-lap!!! MC3 was his weaker course but he made a nice attempt so far taking the GOD times, but MC4 he was more successful, didn't take the GOD time but made it through for a 5-lap WR of 1'38"08!! He was demonstrating GV3 lap to his brother and a new WR of 0'14"59 arrived!! Simon Laflamme attacked MC3 this week for he knew he could get the WR he wanted, not just a WR, but an important barrier broken, his new WR for 5-lap stands at 1'29"98!! On PAL version, Sami Çetin made some new WRs, DP1 getting tight as possible and harder than ever to race, the new WRs now stand at 1'16"67 and 0'15"11!! The VL2 5-lap time was also improved to 0'52"31!!

Andrew Livingston returned to NTSC and set some great new records already! These included 7 new GOD times and many others in the Legend. His main objective here seemed to be to get rid of some of those King times to help him climb higher in the standards. His success earned him the overall standard of Legend E, #10 position in the World on NTSC and #6 in U.S.A! Martin Morissette also karted a lot with a nice set of PRs set around the King-Elite standards mainly. However, he was able to set Legend C and GOD standard times on VL1! He has now reached Elite A overall and is #27 on the PAL Players List.

The 2nd fastest karter from Sweden, Hampus Lindin has made some nice new records including a Legend G lap record for MC4 lap! He is currently busy with homework, but will be more active again soon over the summer and hopes to pass Joakim Alderborn to become the Champion of Sweden! Michael Jongerius tried very hard on VL2 to make the island jump and succeeded with some nice times so far and improved his 5-lap even further!

Cedric Leutwyler who recently joined the SMK site, from France made 8 fast new improvements to his PRs. These included Elite and King times that look a lot better than some of his previous times. He shows us that he is ready to reach higher ranks quickly as he climbs to #39 on PAL and #13 in France. His overall standard is now Elite D! Bertrand Voireuchon and Sébastien Pereda both submitted a PR each in this week slightly helping their SR scores.
