MARIO KART UPDATED NEWS! Sami Çetin's update, 5th October 2003 |
NO UPDATE NEXT WEEK
It is my 21st Birthday (where have the years gone?!?) on Wednesday 8th October, so I will be heading back to London for the weekend - Friday 10th October to Sunday 12th October to see friends/spend time with family for my birthday. This will mean there will not be time for an update next weekend. But not to worry, as you can still keep sending in your PRs as normal and they will be updated two weeks later. Sorry for any inconvenience.
NEW RANKING SYSTEM AND NON-GRASS/SAND BOOST SITE
I received an e-mail from Simon Laflamme this week and we discussed some of the standards that will be set for the new Non-NBT site that is still under works. He has been discussing this with Michael Jongerius, Jamie White and some others aswell. Due to some PC problems Simon has had, it is taking time for all this to be created, plus he has also been working on the excel file that will help provide a new ranking system for this site. Sadly with the PC problems he lost some of the data regarding the Excel file. But Kevin Booth has a working version and after some more testing to be sure that it is working 100% we can start using it. So hang in there guys, as everyone is a little busy but things are in the works. We simply have to make sure that when moving to a new system, we use more of a phasing method rather than dropping one and using the other to find something in it is faulty. It is safer to know the new system works 100%. If you would like to discuss this matter in any more detail, you can e-mail Simon or contact him via AIM. Special thanks to Simon for all his hard work on this so far aswell!
PR UPDATES
A little less activity this week but some players passing others. On PAL in the U.K, Matthew McCarthy took the lead with some strong PRs on a few courses including some boosting success for MC1. He landed a #3 time for the 5-lap with a great sub 12 second fastlap. Resulting from his success this week he made it to Legend B overall standard and #12 on PAL. Jamie Stirzaker made some times for DP1 and made Rainbow stronger into the Legends now. He passed Thibault Ludwig for #40 on PAL. Raphael Braun continued improving with a sub 55" time for VL2 and some nice marks reached for DP3 aswell. He strengthened his lead from approaching McCarthy a bit and is also on the way to Legend A if he keeps up the improvements. Champion of France, Pierre L'Hoëst improved VL2 5-lap a bit into 53 seconds and cut 4 SR points down.
On the NTSC side, Aaron Miarka set 4 PRs including a GOD time for BC3 lap. Ray Bergstrom however set some GOD times on CI2 and KB2, the result was that he passed Miarka and a few others on the list to reach #20 on NTSC. It is still a very close battle though! Champion of Canada, Simon Laflamme improved his GV1 lap slightly to get another win on Morissette and White and tie Gallo.

NEW MEMBER
We have one new member this week, Daniel Caterbow from Germany who has sent us all of his PAL times. He enters the PAL World Rankings at #77 and Pro C overall standard. Welcome to the site!
PR UPDATES
Firstly, my apologies to everyone as I had to make the last PR check early this week on Friday instead of Saturday, this means that some PRs sent on Saturday by anyone will have to go in next week. This week we had PAL activity only, with French Champion, Pierre L'Hoëst setting a strong DP1 lap with hopes of hitting a WR soon; his VL2 5-lap is also getting faster. In the U.K, Matthew McCarthy getting in the stronger Legends each week with some very solid GV3 times, the lap reaching GOD. He is getting closer now to German Champion, Florian Stern. Jamie Stirzaker also continued his climb in the Kings to King E with DP records and RR times aswell. He climbed up to #39 on PAL this week. Over in Australia, Andrew Pinchen set 6 PRs nearly moving up to the next standard overall and John Neville hit GV3 very well along with Rainbow Road to climb to Expert F overall and #95 on PAL. Gerard Roodhorst continued to kart a bit on GV1 and set some nice new times, the lap getting fast. A few SR points were cut with his records.
