Most sentences name a subject and then describe
an action involving that subject. For example, The duck is quacking. In
this sentence the duck is the subject and is quacking describes the
action. The subject of a sentence must always agree with its verb in
number. If the subject is singular, then the verb must be singular.
Similarly, a plural subject must take a plural verb. For example
