ancient ways of life

SWEET ANNIE

Sweet annie (antermisia annua) is used in China for fighting malaria (although there are now some malaria-resistant strains). Herbalists here use it for treatment of Amebic Dysentary or intestinal parasites such as Giardia. Recommended usage is as a tea made from two to five teaspoons of the herb, one to three times daily.

The conventional medical approach for getting rid of parasites is the drug metronidazole (Flagyl), which can cause severe abdominal distress, nausea, vomiting and even seizures and nerve damage. While metronidazole may be effective and safe for many users, it's nice to know there are safer herbal alternatives.
