As I started college, I, like any 19 year-old, hit the bars on a nightly basis. I met a man who owned a DJ Service in Windsor, Ontario. This was the first bite into the dance scene. In high school, I was involved heavily in the Music department. (Even considering Music as a post-secondary option) I studied voice, trombone, flute and piano. In my 18th year, our school band, The Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks Marching Band, performed in the Calgary Stampeede. We placed 8th out of 27 bands, not bad for our first competition. The band went on to win other awards.
I got involved in professional dj'ing by working for my friend in Windsor, as a wedding DJ. One evening, with my 2 tape decks that were altered to allow speed changes. I attempted a set of beatmixed dance music at a wedding. I was offered a job at a local club one night a week that night. I was exstatic. I worked my way up to the feature dj on Two-dollar Tuesday when the bar was packed. I continued that for 5 years. I left Windsor and moved to London. I worked at another club for about 3 years until it closed. I now, using computers, beatmix collections for personal use. Many of them have a special place for me. Either the bar that I worked at or what I was feeling at the time.
I am posting these mixes for your personal listening. You know with all the copyright issues of today that I can't publish them. Lets see what happens. Some of the mixes are not as tight as I would like, but I am treating it as a progression.
