The Pilgrims' Tales

Tasks:

• You are responsible for reading both "The Pardoner's Tale" and "The Wife of Bath's Tale" in your text.

• Answer the Making Meanings questions found in your text on pages 137 and 149 in your Middle Ages journal.

• After our discussion of these two tales, you will visit a Canterbury Tales Website at http://www.litrix.com/canterby/cante001.htm in order to choose an additional tale for your group assignment. Note: your group must have my approval before a final decision is made concerning your choice. No two groups can use the same tale.

• After reading your tale, the group will create and present a PowerPoint presentation summarizing the main points of the story. Be sure to show how Chaucer's style in your chosen tale is consistent with what you have already learned. Through your presentation, the class should be able to infer Chaucer's attitude toward the character telling the tale. You might need to refer to your notes from The Prologue for assistance.
