They are also found over shallow reefs. Berley should be used to bring garfish and hold them in the area where they are found. Tackle:           * Line: 1-3kg           * Hooks: Size 12 Mustad long shanks.           * Reel: Diawa Regals (anything small)           * Rig: Suspend hook 30cm-2m under a light pencil or             waggler float. Quality: Garfish are a very good table fish but are considered too good of a bait for the table. Fresh garfish are a number one bait in Port Phillip Bay for snapper.
