200gms to 1kg. 1kg Speciments are not commonly caught.
Best Baits:

Pippies, mussles, squid, nippers and sandworm.
Habitat:
-
Whiting are essentially an inshore fish. They favour shallow water over sand
flats in estuaries or along the edge of channels and inshore gutters along
surf beaches. Although they may be taken both day and night, whiting prefer
warm, sunny days and are most prolific during the hot, summer months.

Tackle:
* Line: 2 - 4kg
* Hooks: Size 6 or 8 in long shank
pattern.
* Reel:
* Rig: Small ball sinker running
down to a swivel or ledger stop which is 30-40cm from size 6 or 8 long shank
hook.
Quality: Whiting have a destinctive bite. Quick and rapid taps then
a final bang. Once hooked whiting put up a great fight for their size. They
dive down and pull line from the reel. But after a short fight, whiting are
subdued and brought to the surface ready for lifting or netting into the
boat. Whiting is one of the BEST eating fish in the sea !!
