This first week was insane! We didn't get a moments rest, always running around and getting trained. A lot of the stuff I knew already, but I had to sit in for it. We got recertified in CPR/First Aid and We even got certified in Archery Instruction! It's good for three years. This was the first time that anyone from camp had eveer gotten certified, even though it was recommeneded by SafetyWise, the GS code of safety.
There will be a total of 6 foreign counselors this year b.c there was like no staff to hire! We may not even get nights off b/c of the lack of staff! This is worse than last year! I don't know what's going on with the camp, but it's messed up! I've made real good friends with the forieners already, though. They already got camp names: Sassafras is from England, Twinkle is from Ireland, Firefly is from Austrailia, and there are two more coming today from Turkey and somewhere else that I can't remember.
Firefly told us about these things called "dropbears" that fall out of the trees and maul your face. They are only in Austrailia, though, so when you are wlking through the "bush" or the woods, you have to put your finger on your head sticking up so the dropbears know the can't jump on you. It's like the Aussie version of the boogieman! Heehee! Someone even made a website about it and included a sound that was simply a cat's growl slowed way down. They even took a picture of a Koala and added huge teeth to it for the picture! It's so funny!
The director here is really strict. She has a rule for everything. She is always saying now that I have to ask people if I can take picture of anything. It's quite annoying. But it is only the beginning of the season...maybe it'll get better.
The lifeguard, who is really annoying, is going to take us to one of the other couselor's houses for her grad party and then to her house to spend the night. I guess it won't be so bad if everyone staying at cacmp on the weekend goes. I don't wanna stay here by myslef. I'm not sure what else we are doing, but I have to got like now, so bye!!
