Game 1: L 0-1

Player of the Game: Tim O'hara/Ernst Lamothe

During the week, Tim O'hara took it upon himself to translate the Book of Timothy and preached the verse "Fountain of Movement" before the game to his teammates. Most of the team received the message, however, it was not enough to claim victory.

With Victor Wang and Edwin Flores out of commission, Captain Daniel Pan added more firepower by adjusting the lineup, putting Vince Cannistraro and the mythical Greek sensation George Glekas on the wings, Tim O'hara in the middle, Ernst Lamothe and Dave Yu on defense, and Stan Wang at goalie. "I think he did a good job adjusting the lineup" Cannistraro said. "He just knows what positions will ultilize the person's natural ability. That is why he is Dan the Man Pan and he is going to take over China"

For some reason, Pan appeared to be spaced out before the game. He stated that he had a hard day at work and that he feared his opponents because with the leader of the Four Shades of Yellow under the weather, their future didn't look as bright. Hethought about the distracting his opponents with the movement of his biceps.

During the first period of the game, Pan kept wondering if nothing ever sticks to TEFLON, how do they make TEFLON stick to himself (Pan)? "No no no, don't believe anything he is telling you" exclaimed Yu. "Dan was thinking about how he is going to start the new Imperial Family in China. Personally, I was distracted by the movement of his biceps."

"I think that dude has some psychological issues that need to get dealt with, especially with that Panda Fury" Glekas said. "Whether we've got to draw them out or whatever, I think those are real and they've got to get dealt with."

Stan "the Great Wall" Wang gave the Ice Transplants chances to stay in the game by making several tough saves. On a Theta Xi attack, Wang made four crucial stops when the Ice Transplants were unable to clear for almost an entire two minutes. "His angles were prefect" Vince Cannistraro said. "A lot of shots, they were in front and he came out and block them."

Unfortunately, Wang couldn't keep every ball out. Wang made a wonderful save off a Scott Mayer point blank shot. He lost his balanced and fell to the ground while blocking the shot. Unfortunately, he blocked the ball into the middle of the ring. Theta Xi's Jason Flynn controlled the rebound and while Wang was on his back, Flynn slapped the ball into the back of the net. "I was very fortunate to have scored the goal" said Flynn. "I was in the right place at the right time. If their goalie didn't fall, he would have definitely block my shot and the game would have ended 0-0."

"We didn't get a lot of bounces" Wang said. "I think if we just keepworking hard, we're going to get those bounces." Glekas agreed. "That's frustating. You never like getting beat like that. You don't even like getting in practice that way."

Ohara and Cannistraro almost made it 1-1 just seconds after Tohe scored. With the ball behind the goal line, Ohara fired the ball into the crease at goalie Kurt Hooge, however, Hoodge blocked the shot off the his right pad. "I never saw the puck" Hoodge said. `"I guess it was reflex. (Ohara) made a good play and I was very fortunate to have blocked it." Cannistraro had two one timers, however, the goalie made sprawling save to rob Cannistraro.

With the chant "Remember Stanley Wang", The Ice Transplants had a 11-4 edge in shots during the second period. Both Ernst Lamothe and Daniel Pan clamped down on defense, enabling them to stop Theta Xi from getting good scoring chances, and quickly getting the ball out of their zone. This created numerous scoring opportunities for Glekas, Cannistraro and Ohara. With some crisp passing, all three of them had several one timers, however, the goalie kept on making saves after saves.

The Ice Transplants had chances to take equalize the score with less than three minutes left in regulation, but Glekas backhanded the first try over the net while Hoodge was out of position. After a scramble, Ohara had another shot, but he smacked the ball into Hoodge's chest. With a few seconds left, the Transplants had one more shot of tying the game. Pan decided to come up from his defensive position and had a shot from about 10 feet out, however, he lost his balance and whiffed on the shot.

"It was a tough game" Nick Warren said. "Both goalies played great and it was a defensive battle. We were just fortunate enough to get a good chance in the first half of the game, and fortunate for it to go in."

"We've got to get hungry to score goals" Ohara said. "The effort was there, it was decent excution against a trap team, we didn't turn the puck over that much, we did a lot of things we set out to do with one exception. We failed at the main objective of the game, which is to put the ball in the net.
