Spider Web
She has her home
controls her territory
Neither, ruthless nor cruel
but cunning
in her relentless determination
She spins her web
and waits
Who will be the
unsuspecting victim?
The next meal flies by
unknowing its fate
Until it is too late
When the prey is caught
it knows only to struggle
Which simply serves
to make matters worse
Thus, sealing its fate
Wings flapping, fanning, flopping
in a frenzy of agonizing desperation
It’s horrid last moment’s goes unnoticed
Except for the spider
She cocks her head longingly
The strands of the web
vibrate like sweet music
beneath her feet
The time has come
her wait is over
Two teenage girls walk by
and stare at the web in admiration
They giggle knowingly
Soon it will be their time
to devise their own design
