Jonny Quest Hopeless Romantics Auxiliary |
by Alex LaRue
There are facts behind 'Ghost Quest' other than the famous kiss. These facts back up the kiss. To quote SeaQuest: Luke: "Do you think there's a choice?" Captain: "There's always a choice. The trick is gathering enough information to support that choice." So, in this situation, the choice is whether or not to believe in that scene. This is the info to support that choice: HR Moments in 'Ghost Quest' by Alex LaRue In the very beginning, Jessie calls Jonny "Captain Quest" which could be a nick-name for something other than sailing. When Jessie complains that Jonny had been hogging the helm, he quickly offers it to her. When Jessie goes overboard, Jonny frantically calls her name until he sees her. Then he ties a rope around his waist and dives in for the rescue! When Jonny and Jessie come up from the water, they're facing each other. But, as anyone in lifeguards or something similar might learn, the rescuer is supposed to come up with the victim facing away from him or her. Now that's something to think about. When Jonny introduced Hadji and Jessie to Paul Morney, Jonny looked at Jessie for an extra second and, for once, forgot about Bandit. In the studio, after Paul Morney told them what happened to Lady Caroline, Jonny said, "How tragic." Jessie sighed and said, "How romantic." Then Jonny said, "Whatever," but he didn't roll his eyes or anything. So maybe he agreed with her... When Lady Caroline's ghost appeared for the first time for the Quest kids in the hallway, Jessie said, "She's beautiful." And Jonny added, "For a ghost." Would this mean he thinks some other girl is more pretty? He only knows one... "Better use the night-scope. I don't trust the lights in here." Jonny said when he and Hadji were setting up the camera. Maybe he wants the lights off for some reason? When Jessie was first possessed in the bedroom by Lady Caroline and she came running out screaming toward the balcony, Jonny was the first to follow her and sounded very worried when he asked her what was wrong and he also tried to stop her. When Jonny and Hadji found the scatered love letters, Jonny folded and pocketed one. Maybe he needed help writting one to a certain girl he likes... "Jean? That's what Jessie called me out there!" Jonny said. He didn't sound too worried or offended about being known as her boyfriend. After learning about Jean, Caroline's not-too-trust worthy boyfriend, Hadji said "There is no telling what that ghost make her do." But how do we know that Lady Caroline's ghost made Jessie do anything she didn't want to do? "She meant nothing to me!" Was Jonny's pathetic excuse to Jessie for going with another girl. That would mean that only Jessie meant something to him. The famous Kiss lasted a full eight seconds after the ghost's left Jonny's and Jessie's bodies! Eight seconds! It makes ya think. When they ran to the boat, Jonny shouted to Jessie to cast off. Maybe he was trying to get her out of any harm's way...? After the Island disapeared, they started talking about it, saying that maybe it was a dream, but not saying anything about it being a nightmare to which Jonny probably would have done if he hadn't liked it. Then they noticed that their watches had stopped and Jessie said in a really un-natural yet cute voice that time had stood still for her. She then started laughing which told us that she wasn't ashamed or embarrassed and maybe a little happy about that little scene in the woods. It all makes ya think, doesn't it?© 1997 Alex LaRue
