Research on ColestrumI first heard about Colestrum in October of this year. My mother let me know that it was mentioned in the October-printed issue of Protect Yourself. According to the article, Colestrum is supposed to be a health supplement to aid people with, among other things, alleviating fatigue symptoms in MS. For this reason, I began to research it, to see if the claims had any validity. The nurse and doctor at the MS Clinic at my hospital had never heard of it. I then did a web search; the only site my search produced was for a health tablet with an ingredient called ColOstrum. I then contacted the national MS Society in Toronto. Their search produced the same findings: colostrom is also knows as "early milk", what breastfed babies receive. There was a test to discover if it had any beneficial effects for anyone with MS or similar illnesses. The tests found no positive effects. I then contacted the MS Society here in Montreal, and they corroborated the findings. Further study of the web page in question set many warning flags in motion. This pill claims to help with ANY illness that affects the immune system: MS, HIV, and various cancers. It sells for $39.99 USD, and claims on the site that you should take several pills at once every time. From what I learned, this sounds very much like a modern day snake oil. Avoid at all costs. © December 7th, 1999 |
