The book of cross words was the handywork of prolific French philosopher, Claude Dumont. Aside from 153 copies (thought to have been ordered by those already familiar with Dumont's work) all of the two thousand and forty seven copies ordered in the first month of it's publication, were returned to the distributer with demands for a complete refund.
In these days, people did the right thing, even when they were not legally obliged to. So it was that the distributers refunded the full value of the book to each of the one thousand eight hundred and ninety four disgruntled customers with all due apologies.
Following this marketing catastrophy, Dumont's book was retitled 'The book of angry words' and sold very few copies.
THE END.
