The Sanitorium

Under The Sign Of The Hourglass

Nom de plume.

A Scottish gentleman living in France was much disliked by a society gentleman of Austrian origin. The Scotsman was taken to violent attacks on this Austrian fellow's property (he owned a small workshop which produced a variety of wooden items for the local community). The Austrian was unable to bring charges to the Scotsman due to the lacking competence of the local law enforcement community.

The Austrian became so embittered as to will the death of the destructive Scot. He wrote an extreme fascist document for publication in the literary journal Elan. At this time, unpopular writers were frequently lynched and brutally murdered. Shortly after the article's publication, the Scotsman was found beaten to within an inch of his life. It was perhaps more than a coincidence that the Austrian's nom de plume exactly matched the Scotsman's genuine moniker.

Never underestimate the power of literature.

THE END.

Take me home, I have to take my medecine.
