So, you wanna be immortalized in Cyberia, huh?

Here's your chance!

Please read ALL the instructions and disclaimers thoroughly...it is very important that you follow all the directions!

What you need:

  1. Your own website with storage space, enough to accommodate approximately 70-200K beyond what you already have there (my own PPP with graphics take up only 50K but yours may be lager)
  2. A photo of yourself, (Your face or head and shoulders: a full frontal view or 3/4 view. Profiles not recommended) either color or black and white (Annie Warhol's not picky, but please make the file sizes small [72 dpi]), scanned, and converted to either GIF or JPEG.
  3. Willingness to keep your portrait page and corresponding graphics at your site until the end of the Internet as we know it
  4. Willingness to take part of a web tour, which will generate hits to your site
  5. Willingness to provide a link back to my site
  6. Ability to read and comprehend the following rules!

Overview and Rules:

The Personal Portrait Page

You will need to store your Personal Portrait Page (hereafter referred to as PPP) and corresponding graphics at your site. I will use frames to access your PPP within my Gallery frameset. It will be a web tour.

I will provide you with not only the portraits, but the page as well. You cannot alter the code in the page. It must remain as is for a cohesive look throughout my Gallery. Alteration of the code will cause your PPP to be promptly removed from my portrait tour. You cannot have any banners from banner exchange services, including GeoCities, on that page. You cannot have any other graphics other than the portraits that I create for you on your PPP. Since some web hosts like GeoCities require you link back to them, you may place a text-only link back to them at the very bottom of your PPP. Your page may be accessed from within your own website. You may also provide a text-only navigation bar to your own site at the very bottom of your PPP. This will not show in my frameset, but will be visible on your page if accessed separately. Insert these text-only links only after the fragment in your PPP that will say <!--end Personal Portrait Page Fragment. You may insert your own text after here.-->

Your PPP will have your name on it with a hyperlink to your homepage.

Your Portraits

I will create 16 colorized mini postage stamp-sized Annie Warhol-style portraits of you from the photo you e-mail me. I will also create a low-source image. You may use these portraits of yourself elsewhere at your site as well, as long as you give me credit with a hyperlink on the page where you use them. Each image will be 65x74 pixels.

Getting Started:

  1. Send your photograph via e-mail to (sorry, we're no longer taking submissions). Put "Annie Portrait" in the subject line. Include your first and last name and the URL of your home page.
    IMPORTANT!
send in GIF or JPEG format only please! Reduce file size to 72 dpi! Failure to do so may accidentally result in me not receiving your portrait! (I only have one phone line...all my business, personal calls and internet connecting is done on one line...I can't tie up my phone all day receiving a 600 dpi 4 megabyte TIFF file that could have easily been reduced to 50 kilobytes at 72 dpi in JPEG format! Also, sometimes when receiving a huge e-mail attachment, my program bombs, resulting in me never even receiving the e-mail it bombed on. Of course if you'd like to help support hungry artists by supplementing them with $9/month to get an extra phone line, then you are welcome to send an unreduced 4MG file. Just kidding--but you get the picture.)
  2. When I have completed your portraits and page, I will post them in a temporary file on my site for you to download.
  3. Make any minimal changes you need, like adding a GeoCities link or navigation bar (if applicable). Text only, please!
  4. Upload your portraits and your page to your directory. Do not alter the names, or else it will not work.
  5. Add a link to me from your homepage. Click here for the proper HTML.
  6. Notify me when your portraits and page have been uploaded.
  7. I will check out your page and make sure everything looks right, and then I'll add you to my tour! Hopefully this will help everyone get more hits.

4.6.98: NEW INFO: If you are unable to upload your page and your portraits after I've already gone through the trouble of making all of it, I will add them to the tour anyway, store them on this site, with no return link to you. It is to your advantage to upload them to your site.

Disclaimer:

I will be happy to e-mail any portraits that you cannot download properly, or even portraits that did not upload correctly, although you should keep a copy of the portraits on your computer for future reference. However, I cannot answer any questions about "now what do I do" or "why won't my photos show up?" If it is not working, it is something you did wrong, not something I can help you with. Go back and check to make sure you have everything uploaded, and that you kept the names the same. Please, don't use AOL to download your portraits. Their compression format and proprietary graphic formats are nightmare to work with. Use a real browser like Netscape (preferably) or MSIE.
