The Ruby Raspberry of Infamy

I don't want anyone to have this award!

Moyra of Moyra's Web Jewels is the founder of the Ruby Raspberry of Infamy, and creator of the raspberry graphic. She has generously opened up this award program to others who want to alert netizens to the nefarious net deeds of others. With a forum of public humiliation for those who do not practice proper nettiquette, hopefully wrongful web actions will decline. Read more about Moyra's rules.

How does one acquire the Raspberry? Below is a list of items that, depending on their severity, will certainly qualify one as a Wiener of my raspberry award and placed on the Dishonor Role along with any personal information if available, such as URL or e-mail address.

  • Sending me insulting/flaming e-mail. So you don't like my page, my graphics, my ideas. Fine, no problem. Just leave and find another place to go (I heard there's lots of them). That's what I do when I find a site I don't like. Leave. It's very simple and painless. No flaming necessary.
  • Telling me what to do for free. I have absolutely no tolerance for people who tell me I should offer free graphics that are "simpler." Look, I make the graphics, I decide what to offer for free. My aesthetic isn't shaker furniture, okay? It's decadent Baroque. You want simple graphics? Go find another free graphics site. (I heard there's plenty out there). Now if you are a paying customer, yes, you can certainly request simple graphics. I have no problem with that. But if you are only interested in freebies, remember, beggars can't be choosers.
  • Not crediting my free graphics if you use them. If you don't like to put credits on your page, plain and simple, you have no business using graphics that require a link.
  • Linking directly to my free graphics. If I remove the graphic, your page will look pretty ugly. This is a common web courtesy.
  • Displaying any of my graphics that are not for public use. Certain images I just do not want displayed elsewhere for my own various reasons. They include my graphics I use on my sites as well as the fine art in my galleries. The free art is in the free areas and displayed in black boxes. Only those images can be used by others (with a link back, of course). For more information on this, read my agreement.
  • Plagiarising any of my text, graphics or design. This is probably the most reprehensible of all dishonorable deeds. You know who you are, evil spawn.
  • Requesting anything unethical or illegal. This covers a broad range of topics such as requesting I e-mail them a font that is not freeware.

If one rectifies the situation and/or sends an apology, their name and address will be removed from the Dishonor Role.

The Dishonor Role of Award Wieners

Evil Font Baby. This little child saw some font I used on some page and wanted me to send this to him. I told him I couldn't do it since I bought that font and was licensed to use it--he wasn't. He then whined that adults think young people are so stupid. Well, yes, when they act like that, they are stupid. Read the transcripts of our e-mails.
Miss Shaker Furniture. She wanted me to offer free graphics that were simpler. A choosey begger.
Mr. Pathetic Needs a Life. He signed my guestbook with some flake name like Bika Szar, no e-mail, no URL. Hmm. I wonder why. He told me he thinks my life is sad and that he feels sorry for me. Was he looking in the mirror instead or something?
A couple more Wieners, Internet Thought Nazi, and Twisted Art Monkey, are listed on my Opinions page.
