Information about Quetzaltenango, Guatemala and the author.

My name is Edgar Guzmán Méndez, I was born on December 12th 1971 in Quetzaltenango, the second most important city in Guatemala, the Eternal Spring Country. Quetzaltenango is the only city that is still known by its mayan name, Xelajú or Xela, it's original name is Xe'lajuj No'j  that means "Under the 10 Wisdoms."

Its industrial, commercial and service development is the biggest in the region. Is also the regional study centre and is the home of 5 of the 6 universities that exist in Guatemala, and people from all of the west zone of the country come here to study at the different schools and universities.

The average yearly temperature is 14°C (39.8°F), and it rains about 150 days of the year. Central Park is exactly located at 14°50'22" North, 91°31'10" West, and is 125 miles from Guatemala city, which is the biggest city in Central America, with more then three million inhabitants.

Quetzaltenango is also called "Estado De Los Altos" or "Sexto Estado De La Luna Creciente", for its beautiful Luna de Xelajú (Xelajú's Moon):

In 1996 my life gave a great turn for the loss of my father, whom a poem was dedicated to, and the Non Traditional Products Exporters Association swelled an allegiance naming the library his name.

I have studied in Liceo Guatemala and Instituto de Estudios Avanzados Suger Montano de Occidente in Quetzaltenango, in 1989 I moved to Guatemala City to study the System Engineering carrier at the Francisco Marroquín University, where I graduated, and after I studied the Data Base Master carrier.

Since 1997 I have worked in the City Hall of Quetzaltenango, as Director of the Information Systems Division. As well I teach in the Programming and Mathematics areas at the Francisco Marroquín University in the System Engineering and Master of Business Administration carriers, which is the one that I am studing.

In October 10th 1998 am I happily married with Gisela Samayoa de Guzmán.

And since some years ago I collect postal stamps, do you collect postal stamps?, would you like to write me in order to exchange postal stamps?.
