Her parents always told her she was just going through a stage,
And in time all her sadness would pass along with her rage.
Day by day, year after year,
She only grew worse and so did her fear.
A stranger even to herself, drugs became her only friend,
She did more and more, wanting everything to end.
Her sparkling eyes turned into a dark fixed stare,
Looking through other people, as if they weren't even there.
No longer could she cry, no pain could she feel,
Her world out of focus, not knowing what was real.
And now she lies still in a hospital bed,
With nothing to say, no more thoughts in her head.
