She says:

I don't know if it really counts as an official date, because

I don't think he ever actually invited me to go out anywhere

with him. (But I definitely don't remember ever agreeing to go.)

Well, he did try to bring up that "Hooters" restaurant,

but I put a stop to that quick enough. He tried to tell me

he had heard that it is a family restaurant. So I said "Well,

maybe it would be, if you're talking about the Manson family!"

He says:

I wanted to see if I had the upper hand in our relationship,

and I had heard about this restaurant called "Hooters."

I thought it sounded like a place where a guy could show off

his manhood. For example, I thought maybe I could wait awhile,

watching the waitresses go by, and then I'd say

"Look at the set on that one!"

And I had a plan if she complained about my attitude. I would

just say that I was merely referring to the nice place-setting

on the next table.

She says:

So, somehow we ended up at my place for this date of ours, but

he gets the wrong idea, and thinks that boy-girl things are about

to happen. So I fed him that same line I always found myself

using with Ted--that I am going steady. Only Bob doesn't buy it.

He just won't give up. (He must have thought that I was playing

"hard to get.") But finally, I wear him down, and he leaves.

I think I must have finally convinced him that my sandwich

was the only thing of mine he was getting to eat.

He says:

I guess I don't blame her for not dating me after that one time.

I bet it could have worked out better.

(If only I had gotten her to that restaurant.)

I did end up going to "Hooters" later by myself. And you know,

since I was only paying for one meal, I had some money left over.

And so I figured, since I didn't "get any" from Carol, why not give

the amount, that would have been Carol's meal money,

directly to the waitress? But I didn't, although that waitress,

she looked like she would have been a good value,

at least compared to Carol.

She says:

Actually, once he had found out that I was a Trekkie, our date was

a lost cause. Because after he asked me if he could boldly go

where no man had gone before, Bob was dead meat in my book.
